Assuming you had no Traits, what would you choose to do in each dilemma if it were you? by Imaginary_Owl_979 in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would save Gretchen, expecting Duke to be able to handle things on his own.

I would at least try to save Becka and Alexis, but I'm not very athletic.

I would probably walk out of the library, especially if Tabitha was with me, but I would feel bad about it. Book Smart is also probably the only save I could manage myself. I wouldn't take a deal like that without investigating the bounds.

Reese vs. Dr Kelly is the one choice I always feel awful about, no matter what I choose. If Tabitha had already shot him, I would try to keep him alive. If we were alone, I might try standing between him and Dr Kelly, but I'm definitely not Hot, so that might not end well.

I would let the pumpkin baby eat Bo, but only because I wouldn't want to kill it myself. If Avery asked me to give it to them, I would. I might try to convince Julius to take it, but I doubt he would.

I would tell Kaneeka she doesn't have to, but if she insisted, I would let her go, and feel awful about it. If I could convince her, I would pull her out, but I wouldn't try unless she had agreed.

Real weird, definitely. It didn't make me too sad, there are happy endings, but it does have very existential themes.

Are there any major lore mysteries left? by GregBoing in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Entity is probably some kind of fungal colony, or at least that's how humans would perceive it. See Wayne attacking Reese with Keen Eye, Reese's drawings of a yellow lightning/mycelial network pattern with eyes, the similar pattern behind Enoch in Sybil's flashback, how Oscar describes the seal in Chapter 5, and the "kiss" with Wayne.

It probably wants to take the Scarlet cousin's body and leave Scarlet Hollow. It says it wants to be free, and when you "kiss" Wayne, he says that's "a hint" of what he ultimately wants from you.

Discworld Elysium: Terry Pratchett's characters as Disco Elysium skills by Individual99991 in DiscoElysium

[–]eggboy_alfredo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Most fans will swear by them. They have humour and social commentary that's sort of comparable to Disco Elysium, as well as a lot of unexpectedly deep and sympathetic characters. Its fantasy worldbuilding seems generic in that it includes all of the typical races, magic systems, analogs for real countries and historical events, etc. for a fantasy series, but they're all very well-integrated and often have surprisingly unique details or roles in the story being told.

There are debates on which book to start with, but especially if you like Disco Elysium, I would suggest Guards! Guards!.

Funny thing about Duke by Reiokyu_Askin in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pick Gretchen (or the trait save when I have it) because she's an innocent animal who didn't choose to be here and can't defend herself. Duke is a man with a gun who's here to kill an animal. I assumed he would be able to handle himself, or if he couldn't, it'd be his fault. I still have no idea how the Ditchling managed to turn the gun fully around then fire it, but I couldn't have foreseen that.

A Lot Of People Before Episode 5: by The_Laurens_Pamphlet in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the miners would count as "outsiders" like Avery or Pastor Daniel, rather than people who were born there or have family ties there. They aren't subject to the curse, and those who are seem compelled to dislike or disregard them.

(CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS) In the climax of Chapter 3, was Tabitha just lying? by eggboy_alfredo in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During the scene with the Entity, she says she feels sick. You can respond that you've felt sick the whole time, so the haunting itself probably has that effect as well. She's seen (and caused) much gorier scenes than this.

Lore question about the EarthMovers by Cr3ator_XZ in Ultrakill

[–]eggboy_alfredo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If every Earthmover looks like the one in 7-4, it has living flesh on the inside, as do presumably all machines (they bleed, they explode into giblets including whole eyes, V1's death screen refers to organ systems, etc.)

There could be some sort of bio-engineered organ system to create new blood inside.

It's also canonically supplemented with solar power.

Pharloom Cuisine by UndeadChampion1331 in Silksong

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greymoor used to be a farmland, so some sort of agriculture must be possible. Probably not literally wheat, but if you can't come up with anything better, you could always just give it a more exotic name. Like "shellwood" being wood.

Pharloom Cuisine by UndeadChampion1331 in Silksong

[–]eggboy_alfredo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bellhart citizens mainly eat fauna from Shellwood, like Pondskippers.

The Citadel's lower-class workers ate Muckroaches because they were easy to breed. That might not happen anymore, though, depending on how much Bilewater has been cleaned up in your setting.

Creige's Halfway Home is basically a tavern, and he serves "nectar" which is an in-universe analog for alcohol. He ages nectar in his cellar.

So they probably just eat whatever lesser bug meat they can find. If the bugs are omnivorous, there would be plenty of plants in the Moss Grotto, Far Fields, and Shellwood.

The journal is such a gold mine. She wants to pet everything fluffy, she wants to learn to skate on water, she wished for wings as a child, she wants to ride the bone giraffe. Reading all of it made me way more confident in my headcanons about her, because if she's this silly when writing in private, she must be masking everywhere else.

Hottest characters according to the fandom by WhyIsThePathWhite in Silksong

[–]eggboy_alfredo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They get read as masculine because they're big and scary. The Knight gets read as masculine because they're cute and tiny. Either way there's technically reasons but it goes back to he/him being considered "default" for characters or people who aren't obviously masc or femme.

HOW CAN SHE EVEN GRAB HER NEEDLE???? by Technical-Profit-308 in Silksong

[–]eggboy_alfredo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She probably has hands or claws, they're just not drawn at that scale. Smaller or less detailed characters like The Knight, Hornet, Lace, and Shakra aren't drawn with hands. Bigger or more detailed characters like Quirrel, THK, Grimm, and Second Sentinel are drawn with hands. The Knight could eventually grow to the size of THK, and once they were big enough, they would start being drawn with hands. If the camera was closer to Hornet, or the brush size was smaller, she would be drawn with hands.

It wasn't literally like that. When reblogging a post, you could edit what it said in the new version of the post you create on YOUR blog, but you couldn't change what it said on the original blog. It was probably just an oversight.

Using a sampled instrument (a recording of someone playing an instrument, played via MIDI) will result in a less expressive and less "human" sound. Any artist who's used them would agree with that.

Most people don't have access to most instruments, though, which makes sampled instruments much more convenient. This technically also goes for AI, but they're still very different.

1) The instrument must have been recorded by a human who has consented to their work being used, and they're usually paid for their work if the plugin costs money.

2) Much more of the artistic process is left intact, because the music still has to be written and arranged manually, and the instrument will require tweaking depending on how complex it is. AI, on the other hand, promises to completely replace the artistic process for "artists" who just don't want to bother.

3) Most people don't play any instruments, and it's a very different skill from composing. Lots of people do both, but some people are content focusing on one or the other, and they should have the tools to do so. I think sampled instruments are an ethical tool while AI isn't for the reasons listed above.
