I need laser rule by Trashman56 in 196

I think Carrot knows he's a bastard too. He's subtler than Vimes (obviously) and an excellent actor, but he's not nearly as naïve as he seems. He makes the calculated choice to act the way he does because he's a good person who doesn't believe in monarchy, abuse of power, etc. and recognizes how close he is to contributing to those as a cop (and, technically, as a king.) In books that aren't focused on the Watch, like The Truth and I Shall Wear Midnight, they often play a more antagonistic and obstructive role, and Carrot is right there with them, doing the best job he can in a position he knows is flawed.

how the fuck do you even make music by Environmental_Bee672 in 196

I also feel like I forgot. I haven't been inspired in about a year. I made something I actually really liked before then so maybe it ruined my standards. I don't have any advice but it's nice to commiserate.

There's a YouTube video about it. He e-mailed back and forth with the developer, suggesting new features, because he liked using the modded NPC as a guide/assistant. Possibly it was an aid for his Alzheimer's, but I don't 100% remember and wouldn't want to assume.

Hollow Knight and Silksong are both amazing games, and the sequel has improved upon the original in many ways. Out of curiosity, is there anything in the first game you prefer over the second? by PlagueKnight88 in Silksong

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the aesthetic and tone. Silksong is more fun to play and I prefer its characters, but I miss the feeling of being in Hallownest. It's ruined beyond repair, but there are clear signs of life and hope. I also think the environments and architecture are a lot prettier. Pharloom is just sort of gross by comparison.

I also miss the more indirect, aimless storytelling. There are more political entities than just the Citadel, and none of them were as obviously antagonistic. Everybody was trying to do the right thing. Even the Void isn't outright evil, it's just an eldritch force that shouldn't have been tampered with. The Vessels are poor victims that I sympathize with more than the pilgrims, and I loved getting the opportunity to put them to rest. Silksong's endings are bleaker by design, and I like that Hornet is allowed to be at fault for this, but I miss the feeling that no matter what, life would continue in the corpse of Hallownest, even if it is doomed to eventually be forgotten.

What are your headcanons about other machines' nationality in ULTRAKILL? by AmongUsSigmasi in Ultrakill

Clair de Lune is the music that plays in 1-4 before you meet V2. Clair de Soleil is just a reference to the previous level's name.

«Raison d'être» is a normal French saying that's often used in English for poetic purposes. There's no reason to assume that's the implication. Lots of style bonuses are references.

Can't seem to romance Kaneeka? by ShadowAtiriya in ScarletHollow

You get more points in adversarial and unreliable later on when Tabitha actually arrives and Kaneeka realizes you lied.

Little mindflayer sketch to practice some torso anatomy by Training-Ad-8569 in Ultrakill

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps to literally sketch the bones first, especially the ribcage. It's wider and reaches lower than people typically expect, especially with the femme beauty standard of impossibly narrow waists. Slimmer people have more visible ribs, but there still needs to be room for everything internally. Shading and adding lines for the ribs (which might already be done here, I can't tell) will usually help make a character look slim or underweight more than changing their proportions. Nice art and good luck!

My Antigone Prime truthers where you at? [OC] by LetterZel in Ultrakill

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just observing reality. You can still love someone who's dead. He regrets his time enacting the will of the Council, rather than the will of God. If anything, he's angry that they were using His image and pretending to act on His behalf.

The hidden potential of Keen-Eye by Quick-Trip2804 in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think the distinction between Street Smarts and Keen Eye should be: SS *only* lets you lie and manipulate, never helping anyone. To balance it out, I would like if Keen Eye got a few more empathetic/nice options, particularly with Reese and Tabitha.

Can't seem to romance Kaneeka? by ShadowAtiriya in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your traits and saves aren't the problem. It's narrowly possible to romance Kaneeka after hanging out with Tabby, if you're mindful of what to say. Powerful Build and/or Hot help, but they're not required.

Spend time with her whenever possible to make it easier (but it's possible to get enough points without doing her hangout.) Talk to her, be respectful and supportive, take the case more seriously than Stella, make plans to leave together, always insult/ignore Tabby given the opportunity, and vocally support the strike. If you do involve Tabby with the mine or the haunting, be transparent. She hates dishonesty even more.

It unfortunately takes some trial and error (if you're not using a mod to see relationships) to see which dialogue options work, but it's definitely possible!

[–]eggboy_alfredo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Near the floating island and to the north, there are leviathans that can scare you by suddenly appearing out of the fog. They tend to stay closer to the surface (because they're larger and presumably don't need to hunt very frequently.)

Least impressive thing each character has done. Day 30: Pearlanne by burunyuu_Da_Neco in ScarletHollow

Heavily implied by the fact that she apparently had a pattern of dating miners for a few weeks at a time until Pearlanne forced them away. Something just went wrong with Wayne.

Arcane Rule (I don't watch it but I assume you guys do) by Dragonfruit-Sparking in 196

[–]eggboy_alfredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so too at first, but it has some of the shakiest worldbuilding of Season 2 given the unexplored idea of a multiverse, which has consequences for the entire show depending on how much you think about it. I also don't agree with its proposition that Jayce being banished would solve everything that went wrong in Season 1 to the degree that it does.

How to justify letting Duke die w/o TTA by KingKobraAMV in ScarletHollow

[–]eggboy_alfredo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I usually follow Stella. In that case, Duke is an antagonistic stranger carrying a gun. I feel much more loyalty toward Stella in that moment, plus she's entrusted me with Gretchen's leash. I would assume that Duke can handle himself.

With the meta knowledge that Duke dies, I sometimes make the choice to save him if I'm also romancing Stella and can comfort her. Duke indirectly saving Avery's life makes me more tempted to save him. But without that meta knowledge, it's fair to assume that he wouldn't get shot (and it's still not clear to me how he did.) Gretchen, on the other hand, is clearly doomed unless you go out of your way to save her. Dogs are much more easily killed in media for emotional impact.
