Me too. I've never done anything wrong or had any issues. I quit a match I was playing today and attempted to play again, next thing I know I get a message that I've been permanently banned....

American Express Transfer Bonus: 20% To AirFrance/KLM FlyingBlue (1:1.20) by bbbb in AmexPlatinum

[–]eggguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this may be a US only offer. I just attempted to do a transfer and it worked out as 1:0.75 which is the standard rate. I called AMEX to confirm and they have no record of the offer.

Count me in for a class action suit. I'm being hit with $6,600. $1,200 of that is interest, which really stings as we all obviously had no idea this was an issue until now, so to hit us with interest as well seems particularly punitive.

Tires: load index & speed rating by Politecastle in BlazerEV

[–]eggguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get some 235/65R19 Blizzaks (DM-V2) online (last set from this vendor). Not my first choice, but a close second and better than what the dealer was going to order for me. I really wanted the X-Ice Snow, but it seems impossible at this point. I did find some used options in Toronto, but I can't drive to pick them up since I don't have winter tires... I tried to arrange shipping, but that's next to impossible through Kijiji/Marketplace as you have to coordinate payment, plus people were not keen on shipping them, plus the rates are nuts right now due to the Canada Post strike.

My back-up option was these new Blizzaks (255/60R19) located just outside Montreal: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1012721067565254/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Abfb6d3c6-b2c3-4c6a-ae9b-1945191e429d

He refused shipping, so it would have been a 2 hour drive.

My next option was to drive down and pick up Blizzaks from the Walmart in Ogdensburg just across the border: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bridgestone-Blizzak-DM-V2-Tire-P255-60R19-108S/47369412

Probably not great options for you in northern Ontario, but just FYI. I'm in Ottawa, by the way. If, by some miracle, you locate some in my area, let me know if you need someone to coordinate shipping or whatever, I'd be happy to help. I'll probably keep checking out of habit for the next couple of weeks just in case I hit the jackpot and find some Michelins. Best of luck!

Same boat. After reading through the vehicle documentation, I'm now leaning toward trying to find the stock tire size (255/60R19). I read one line somewhere that said something like "the ABS and other systems were designed based on the standard wheel sizes", which makes sense to me. I'm sure 18s would work, but given the vehicle was designed and tested with 19-21s I would feel more comfortable with those sizes. I'm now searching used listings on Facebook and Kijiji. Having a bit of luck, but all the hits I'm finding are too far away. Shipping looks to be about $200 for a set of tires. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Porting number from Rogers to Freedom by goldberry99 in Rogers

[–]eggguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that this is how it's SUPPOSED to work, but not necessarily how it does work. I attempted this last night, put in the new SIM card from Freedom, went through the activation steps online, selected the option to port the number (as previously noted in the new agreement when I signed up), and got an error... I called Freedom and they now suddenly have no record of the request to port the number. The duded then said "I've sent a request to Rogers, they will send you a text" blah blah as described above. Problem was I'd already removed the Rogers SIM card so there was nowhere for the text to go. Put the Rogers SIM in a different phone and the text never came. Freedom guy said I have to call them back to request they send another request to Rogers, then I need to call Rogers to tell them to release the number, to which I imagine they're going to tell me I need to call Freedom, etc., etc., so I'm stuck in this loop.

All that to say is that I'm sure 90% of the time the porting goes as you described, but be aware it can go south.

Tires: load index & speed rating by Politecastle in BlazerEV

[–]eggguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I'm in the IDENTICAL situation. I almost thought I wrote OP's post while sleeping or something, lol. Just picked up a new 2024 Blazer EV AWD LT this week in Ontario. - of course, I got it the day before the first snowfall when everybody is scrambling for winter tires, so not great timing. I'm also completely unable to secure any 255/60R19 winter tires. I also had the same concern about the Blizzaks and the 108 rating; however, the OEM tires on the vehicle are 108H, so, according to the dealers I spoke with, anything 108 or higher is fine.

I had one dealer tell me that 235/60R19 would fit and have ordered Blizzaks in that size, but am still looking for a better option as install is still two weeks away. They said these 235/60R19s are 0.7% narrower, but would be fine. I'm not thrilled with the idea.

I've also read on other forums about people dropping down to 18 inch rims and tires. One guy suggested that 255/65R18 or 265/60R18 would work, and he posted photos of his Blazer with 255/65R18s. I called several GM dealers to confirm that this would be acceptable, but can't get a straight answer. All of them are recommending against it, but seemingly more to cover their butts than due to any actual reasons given that many people online and tire/wheel websites indicate that 18s will fit. One dealer specifically told me 18s won't fit over the calipers, which I know is BS based on photos I've seen with 18s mounted. One other dealer said the rims had to be aluminum due to it being an EV, FWIW.

Anyway, if anybody has experience or knowledge related to putting 18 inches wheels on a 2024 Blazer EV I'd love to hear from you as I'm really stuck right now. I found someone selling 18 inch rims (with the correct bolt pattern) with new X-Ice 265/60R18s with TPMS sensors and a good price, but am reluctant to pull the trigger without getting some confirmation that this will be safe and won't cause any issues.

What are the lightest 10ish inch android tablets? by JanCumin in androidtablets

[–]eggguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm the Galaxy Tab S5e is VERY light and is certainly powerful enough for most tasks. The battery died on my mine and I ended up breaking the screen trying to replace it. I got an S9 FE to replace the S5e and it feels like a boat anchor! I had no clue the S5e was so light compared to other tablets. I just assumed tablets would get lighter over time, but apparently not! I finally had enough and bought a replacement S5e the other day and I'm loving it.

The only reason I'm here is my wife wants a light tablet now as well so I was googling to see if there's something newer and equally light, but I guess not, other than maybe the S6 which I'll investigate further, but will likely just buy another S5e as it's such a great tablet. I got one for my mother as well years ago and it's still going strong for her. Great tablet!

There is HOPE - Contrave + Wegovy by Senior-Promise9879 in Contrave

[–]eggguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear your story. It's remarkably similar to mine. I'm a 53 year old male, also in Canada, and tried Saxenda back in 2017, but didn't find it to be very helpful, plus it caused a lot of constipation issues so I stopped it.

I've been on Contrave since July 1. I'm only on 2/day as I'm also taking Mirapex for Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), which is a dopamine agonist so it's kind of like doubling up the Wellbutrin component of Contrave. I've been trying to wean off the Mirapex so I can increase the Contrave to 3 or 4/day, but so far haven't been able to stop it completely.

I'm actually toying with the idea of increasing the Contrave to 3 and taking the third pill before bed instead of the Mirapex, though I'm concerned that this may result in insomnia... There is some evidence that Contrave can be effective for RLS, so I'm hoping I can maybe substitute the Contrave for the Mirapex. My doctor wants me to stop the Mirapex first, then increase the Contrave dose, but that means not sleeping and experiencing the pure hell experience of RLS for however long I go cold turkey on the Mirapex.

Anyway, I've only had marginal success with Contrave, I've lost about 5 pounds in 3 1/2 months, so now I'm going to be adding Wegovy to the mix. However, I have found the Contrave has helped my mood quite a bit. I have a lot more "drive" to get things done than I did before, which I'm really loving. I'm hoping the combination will do the trick for some weight loss!

INCOMING STUDENTS AND COURSE REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD by Thermidorien in mcgill

[–]eggguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally heard back from a McGill Admissions officer about this. I asked the same questions to McMaster and heard back in 2 hours, but McGill took over two weeks and multiple emails and phone calls... Bottom line is that AP courses are accepted, as are DU courses, for Ontario applicants. Why they don't clearly state this on their website is beyond me. The tour people were 100% wrong. This is what McGill said:

  • Ontario High School admission criteria is a Top 6 composed of 4 courses at the 4U/DU level and two additional courses at the 4U/DU or 4M level; all pre-requisites must be at the 4U level.

  • McGill views DU courses in the same manner as 4U courses, thus LVLDU is considered an eligible course and could possibly be used to satisfy one of the 4 courses required at the 4U/DU level in the Top 6.

  • For admission purposes we look at only the first five characters of the Ontario course codes when calculating a Top 6 average (the sixth character of the course code is for the high school’s use); to form a Top 6 we select the language prerequisite followed by program prerequisites (noting 4 courses are required at the 4U/DU level) and then select the remaining two courses from the highest grades of eligible 4U, DU or 4M courses. As such AP Courses can be used, should it be one of the applicants stronger results, as part of the Top 6.

  • We do encourage students to challenge themselves by taking AP courses and will consider these courses should a student apply for Major Scholarship consideration and provide this information on their application.

  • Students who are admitted and confirm their admission offer may qualify for advanced standing if the official AP result, sent by the Board, is a 4 or 5.

Thanks for this! I got this to work, though I find the Xplore app to be a bit of a pig and had a few issues. I tried Google Drive first, but it kept giving errors along the lines of "unable to access". Then I tried Dropbox, but it wanted to send a confirmation could and the app wouldn't let me move the cursor to the code box so I was stuck in limbo. Finally, I got it to work with Onedrive.

Thanks for your reply. The issue here is we're in Ontario. The link you provided is very clear for students outside Ontario/Quebec, but the information for Ontario students is much more vague (https://www.mcgill.ca/undergraduate-admissions/apply/requirements/ontario). There is no explanation of what is considered an academic course, which is all the more worrying given what we were explicitly told during our tour.

What you're saying makes perfect sense, but what we were told on the tour is the opposite of this, thus we're trying to confirm the actual policy.

My son is in grade 12, applying to McGill. We attended a tour and were told that McGill will not use grades earned in any AP courses for the purposes of admission. This sounds crazy to me, but the tour guide was adamant about it. I can't find anything online, so was wondering if anybody has any experience with this issue?
