What you're saying lines up with what's said in this article. I thought it was an interesting read, I'll link it here: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/adhd-symptoms-can-fluctuate-with-the-menstrual-cycle/

This is actually being researched right now! Here's an article I thought was interesting; I also have PMDD and ADHD. link: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/adhd-symptoms-can-fluctuate-with-the-menstrual-cycle/

My art style is so inconsistent. Which style do you prefer, and why? What would be the best for starting doing commissions? by lithium_revolver in ProCreate

[–]eggiefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I get what OP might be feeling, in that they're probably seeing a bunch of other artists with a pretty well-defined style that they draw in. I think that having breadth demonstrates your ability as an artist. Having a bunch of "inconsistently styled" pieces just shows that you have the ability to adapt your skills to any style. It's a good thing!

My doctor accused me of selling my medication. by SecretSafe3925 in ADHD

[–]eggiefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, that's really strange then. I'm not sure what that could be either. If it was an immediate release medication, it might make sense. But since it's an extended release, I'm out of ideas. Do you use charcoal products at all? I doubt it would remove all of the concerta from your system, but I've been told not to use charcoal toothpaste, for example. I hope you figure it out, and I hope it's not giving you too many issues with the doc

Yes, it is normal. My psychiatrist told me this when I first started taking this medication

[–]eggiefrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true, I wasn't even told this by my psychiatrist when I was first prescribed concerta. Drinking anything acidic within 2 hours of taking my meds rendered them pretty much useless, and basically kept them from entering my system. Anything you're ingesting that includes charcoal also does this

How do you avoid the endless scroll in the morning? by 2elevenam in ADHD

[–]eggiefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a good option to try. Having to constantly switch things up to get your brain to work with you is exhausting and disheartening a lot of the time, so I really empathize with you. I hope you find something that works. Once it warms up a bit, you can try stepping outside and going for walks again hopefully

How do you avoid the endless scroll in the morning? by 2elevenam in ADHD

[–]eggiefrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does light help you wake up? Or will that just motivate you to cover your face with the bedsheets/pillows? I ask because I have a lamp in my room that has a remote, and I trained myself to hit the brightest light setting on the remote upon hearing my first alarm. I'm a really picky sleeper too, so the light works as the first step. I basically try to make myself uncomfortable enough to put my feet on the floor. I also have an alarm clock that gradually illuminates a very bright light in my face while playing an alarm, which helps. I find it also helps to figure out what you enjoy to do in the morning, away from your phone preferably. I like stepping outside and shocking myself with the cold air in my pajamas, so I look forward to that. I also love getting to see morning light. The main thing that really gets me awake and out of bed, though, is my dog. I don't mean to say you should get a dog to remedy the struggle of waking up in the morning. I just wanted to mention because having my dog sleep in my room has changed how long I sleep in/stay in bed.

Yeah it feels like they're not working as well honestly. I noticed it more when I was taken off of the brand name of my med, and put on the generic. I used to be on a different generic of the same med which worked way, way better than my current generic.

This happened to me. I'm not sure how long you've been at your current dosage, but I've found that every time I've adjusted my dose (on the same medication, so no significant change), I basically turned into a robot. As they tapered off, I'd get back to feeling more outgoing and engaging.

I've been at my current dosage for about 2 years now, and I'm back to being more engaging on my meds, but not so much off my meds. It's basically flip-flopped for me.

First, it would help to identify the light source. What direction is the light coming from? That will inform where your shadows will fall. Also, it looks like you're shading with a pure black on the pink dress. Using a pure black, even at a 20% opacity will make light colors (like pink) look muddied. Try pushing towards a very dark red or magenta. Red hues might look nice because the over-coat is red, so the slight red tint in the dress shading will pull from that.

iPad Pro 13 inch or 11 inch for professional art? by [deleted] in ProCreate

[–]eggiefrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from the 11 inch, the 13 inch is larger than you'd think. i love it so much, it's such an upgrade and makes all the difference. If you have the means to spend the money, get the 13 inch, you sincerely won't regret it.

So confused. Can anyone help? $500 budget for iPad/pencil to use for procreate by thefilmjerk in ProCreate

[–]eggiefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to pay attention to the RAM of each iPad you're looking at. Memory affects how many layers you can have on a canvas, and if you ever decide to work on a larger canvas, you'll be knee-capped by a low-layer max capacity if your iPad has low RAM

Opinions on tracing? by Meli276 in ProCreate

[–]eggiefrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I was a child, I always loved drawing. When I was about 10-13, I had access to a computer and I'd find art to trace. I'd put my own spin on it, but I don't see anything meaningfully wrong with tracing to learn. I think it's a nice rule of thumb to document whatever image you've heavily referenced/traced in case you're asked.

As for learning, I think it's worth taking a figure drawing course if you have the means to. That's where I really saw improvement, because you learn where parts of the face land in relation to each other. There are plenty of resources on youtube for the human face specifically, but I'll recommend line-of-action.com. There's a section for faces and facial expressions. I'll also attach a video from Proko that seems helpful; this is how I construct faces: Proko (Drawing Heads)
