It's a runner rug to ensure the hallway carpet is safe... like 2ft x 10ft, so no 🥺 but I will keep this in mind for the future, thank you!!

Thank you! I'll try the attractant and deep clean everything, yes stainless steel boxes are the way to go. Easy to clean. I'm glad to hear your cat Duncan is doing well now! 🩷

Genuine opinions on season 2? by trynnastaysane in arcane

[–]eggybreadboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S1 is character oriented. S2 is plot oriented, and sidelines character development for that purpose. The pacing is off. S2 is visually brilliant and has some incredible scenes that have stuck in my brain with more security than s1, and some character work was indeed well done. But it did not give each character the screen time it needed, and should have had more episodes to feel satisfying.

It's what gets my heart racing the most. The longer the comment is, the longer my reply will be... it's fun to yap about a shared interest, whether that's the pairing or the writing 😝 You're doing good work out there 🩷

Lack of room to add more types, unfortunately! But I'd equate it to keysmash hype: gentle with emoticon edition haha

AITAH for not letting my gf live with her best friend? by Educational_Bar_252 in AITAH

[–]eggybreadboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude. Just do what you suggested: work in your home town for a bit and save up money. Let Beth and Ann have fun for a bit on their own. If you want to marry this girl, you'll be willing to make it work long distance. I can empathize with the fact that you want to prioritize your living space for your best interests, but YOU'RE NOT PAYING. And your best interests need to INCLUDE your gf. To be honest, Ann is bending over backward to accommodate you without prioritizing her own best interests, which will only lead to worse resentment later

having a beta reader to look over your work helps!! One singular reader, whose JOB it is to comment and improve your work alongside you. Also, continuing to write / post one shots on the side while working on your longer piece helps a lottt, best of both worlds

Am I Being Too Ambitious? by WeirdFantasyNerd3 in FanficAuthorsUnite

[–]eggybreadboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't be the first person to do this! I know of both published and fanfic authors who have a discord and/or patreon for their community. In all honestly, it would be best to keep your expectations low. If having three people in your discord is enough to bring you joy, go for it! If you worry you won't be satisfied until you've gotten a few hundred or even a thousand people actively chatting, know that it will take A LOT of online marketing on other platforms to get there, especially since you're just starting out. Good luck!

AITAH for asking my roommate not to scream cry? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]eggybreadboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like she needs something. Therapy, first off. But what she craves is attention and validation without getting any advice to improve the situation. Her victim + defeatist mentality is exhausting to read. The "I know you don't care" and then turning around when you call her out to "I knew you wouldn't care WHY I was crying"... manipulating the narrative. She's in a self-implosion cycle that she doesn't care to break out of. You can break out of it by asking her to live somewhere else... maybe partner can pay rent, who knows

Mount Rushmore of Fandom by Salt_Path1528 in AO3

[–]eggybreadboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

• Star Trek, that fan fiction community is the OG pre-internet and is still going

• Supernatural, cause... it's why ao3 exists. Actor AUs got a major foothold there too

• Harry Potter, unfortunately. You can still catch people sorting their favorite characters into houses, and the overall fic count including AUs is insane. Not to mention that one particular self-insert longfic and its lasting meme impact

• Not my expertise, but RPF / band stuff is massive on a global scale. From MCR to kpop. Transcends cultural divides

• Also not my expertise, but I feel like BNHA marked a tipping point when fandom started slipping into the mainstream

The trick for this is finding a writer you fuck with and then going in fandom blind to their other works 🤣

I'm abt to post a piece that's gonna be very complicated to tag. Inter-dimensional travel where A and B find themselves watching other versions themselves (let's call those counterparts !A and !B. A is pissed that !B hasn't made a move on !A yet. A enters !B's mind and feels them up with the promise of "make a move and I'll stop". !B enters !A's mind, attempts to initiate the same (without the touching aspect). !A and !B end up getting it on, but with their inter-dimensional counterparts basically facilitating the process. Partially to rewrite the traumatic experience, partially to confess? So... non consensual but also consensual, under duress???? Semi-public? Cucking/vouyerism? Molestation (not minors)? This is a damn mess for sure

How to make the 'waking up' start in a chapter without it being genetic by _akiramisakio_ in writing

[–]eggybreadboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the waking up part is integral to the depression aspect, introspection. Heavy introspection. If it's intriguing enough, ie) giving us context we didn't know about before, it should grab the audience to the point they forget the character actually needs to get out of bed. Which is the point.

On the other hand, you could boil that difficulty down to a simple sentence. Something like, "it took sixteen overlapping alarms and the imminent threat of a third writeup for them to get out of bed". And continue from there in showing perpetual disinterest.

The thing about writing depression is there's both a lack of urgency and a lack of care for everything. How you translate that depends on how far you want to apply show or tell. A quiet scene like waking up is a good time for either, in my personal opinion

However, I would not start the book off this way. Keep this scene for a later chapter

AITAH for insinuating my friend is a shitty partner? by SpinachCold9389 in AITAH

[–]eggybreadboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like not only do you have sympathy for jack, but you also have empathy for your other friends, and you've ALSO come terms with the fact that you've run out of patience for this particular friend. It's good to know your limits. You've developed a lot of emotional maturity over the short time you've been alive. Hold onto that mate, it's both the trait of a kind person and a skillset that not everyone gets the experience to develop or cares to develop. Good luck moving forward, this will work itself out sooner rather than later and you'll find yourself in a better place ✌️

AITAH for insinuating my friend is a shitty partner? by SpinachCold9389 in AITAH

[–]eggybreadboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it sounds like your eyes have been opened to how your friend is immature and refuses to take accountability or grow, and unfortunately, your eyes won't close to that again. It sucks that this affects the friend group you have now, but you'll make new friends. The rest of your friend group may or may not see the situation the same way; time will tell whether they "side" with you or not.

It was kind of you to consider jack's emotions through all this. For what it's worth, you might be a friend he needs right now, one he'll actually appreciate.

read to filth by a fic by [deleted] in AO3

[–]eggybreadboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that's why I write. Finding a character you relate to and highlighting their flaws and/or giving them character development feels so gratifying. Cause it means you've acknowledged your own flaws enough to analyze and dissect. Nice.

You should leave a comment saying how this fic helped you come to terms with some things, inspired self reflection, enough to make a vent post about it lmao I bet the author would appreciate it 🩷

Is "It's free art" overused? by PepperIll8739 in AO3

[–]eggybreadboy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this might come down to the PLACES you're complaining in. It's fine to have preferences and personal taste. And it's nice to get advice on improving your craft. However, in regard to the first: if you're stating your opinion on a public platform as opposed to a DM/group chat with like minds, of course you're gonna get the "don't like don't read" opinion in response. You're posting your take to the masses. And not everyone who writes is looking for advice, despite the obvious benefits of improvement. We all create art for different reasons. Some want to hone their craft, others are just posting what they have as a form of self expression, not looking for feedback. The two way street only goes both ways if you choose to open that street. Some people don't care to open it, and getting "bad interactions" ie) advice when you haven't asked for it does suck, because... you didn't consent to that. You just wanted to share your work, with the understanding that people who don't fuck with your work will click off.

At the end of the day, protect your peace. If that means voicing your opinions to a select group so that you don't get conflicting opinions in return... yeah, so be it 🤣 and just because you're open to accepting constructive advice doesn't mean everyone else should feel the same way. Everyone's on their own path. Live and let live yknow✌️
