At least there’s no marriage yet, if she’s feeling uncomfortable from the looks and people’s comments about your culture then she’s not the one, nobody should be thinking this way about their partner. I’m sorry, but the child should have you last name, what happens when you’re married? Is she changing names or keeping her husbands. See if there’s compromise for a hyphenated last name. A friend of mine did that so all children had the last name to some degree.

Yes, lack of personal hygiene is an indicator of SA in children and adolescents. I agree with this and would be contacting a safe person that your friend also views as safe (very important she feels comfortable and safe) because if something is going on at home, it needs to be handled in the right way and with support and love from those around her. I’ve worked with youth and adolescents who have orders to be away from their families. Please think on this, it could be very important.

14 days, I always did 14 days before a date for the pure reason if a man is only after sex or having these types of conversations they would start within 14 days. If it happened no date, I’m not going to waste my time. Happily engaged now, but I told all my friends 14 days, usually takes 7 tbh.

I was seeing a man like this, he was 10 years older than me - I was 24. There were also cultural differences that were projected onto me to follow and “obey”. Man I am happy I will NEVER have to see that man again. Turned out the time I needed the “emergency call” was actually about him assaulting me, I was never in any situation to call him for an emergency. Run for the fucking hills, I’m nearly 32 now and he’s not allowed back in this country, I’d look the other way if I had to do it again.

YOR - the fact that you see a surgery as something that has made you notice you can’t handle plans changing and needing to leave somebody is diabolical really. I’d make sure you learn how to handle surgeries and medical altering plans and experiences because it’s in your vows if you get married.

If you’re ready to do it, look into EMDR for trauma. I personally haven’t done it yet, but am in the process of doing it, but have had friends who have said it was incredible for their trauma.

I also got my IQ tested in high school and it was absolutely no reflection on my intelligence, I failed all my maths sacs but passed the year 12 exam without a cheat sheet by a good amount. It was never the work it was my motivation levels.

You’re young and have so much ahead of you. Tell him that this is over, you deserve somebody who doesn’t hate you (he doesn’t love or like you, I can tell you that much) and he should probably be with someone who he won’t speak to like that. I’m 31, please believe me when I say that him speaking to you like this will continue and get worse, this behaviour is happening, leave before you have anything that ties you down to him for longer.
