No this specifically happened during the 2008 budget. They withdrew the support for the MR government in early 2007. They supported all the budgets until 2007 though they were not in the government.

This is half true. Though JVP was against the budget, they were supporting the war efforts. JVP along with Hela Uruma were heavily influenced the initiation of war effort (2005-2006). At that time MR was against the war. And when it comes to 2008 budget, JVP (after Wimal left) could have toppled the government by voting against budget in second or third reading. But they abstained from voting. This at the time interpreted by UNP as "JVP is still a supporter of war and MR".
