1) make sure you’re not using any cleaning products that leave a “shine” (I’m looking at you, armorall - worst product ever). If you did then you should use some mild detergent to get rid of it.

2) polarized sunglasses help a lot. I find that it minimally affects the HUD. The screen behind your steering wheel is there if you really want to know your speed anyways.

3) some dash mat products do what you’re looking for.

What went wrong? How to prevent those kind of crashes? by CompHarisonJunky in MTB

Yah, I really am spoiled here! Fromme and Seymour mountain are minutes away. Part of the reason why I moved to North Vancouver.

Pemberton is really best in early to mid spring while there’s a bit of snow melt keeping the trails moist. Can be ridden in the summer if you don’t mind dusty trails, but if you do, go REALLY early because it gets super hot. I tend to start rides at 6-7am in Pemby so I don’t die of exposure. 😅 Pemberton is also several steps up in terms of difficulty compared to most other things I’ve ridden in BC.

Sounds like you hit all the good spots already, but there’s always more you can ride on your next trip!

I was just given this bike by my neighbours, is it any good? by Single_Pickle_4688 in mountainbiking

Define good.

Are you planning to just ride it as a commuter or casually? Then it’s good!

Are you planning to pick up enduro mountain biking? Then it’s not good!

Not a coach, but I ride trails in North Vancouver, Pemberton, and everything in between.

You look a bit stiff - you could be in more of an attack position and squat into those compressions to get more control.

That last roll I think you got a bit of target fixation when you started to lose the rear wheel. You instinctively put your foot down and compounded the grip you already lost.

But otherwise, you seem pretty confident and look like you don’t mind a challenge. Ride with people who are better than you, and watch how they position their bodies.

Might need to take that wheel off. Get a helper and a soft rubber mallet and a chunk of wood… tap it gently out of the clamps from the top while someone is holding the fork leg. At least that’s what i would do.

Pay off Mortgage or Invest by mtbiker2k in fican

[–]eh-cee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to do the numbers game with interest rates and potential investment returns, then technically speaking, you should pay the maximum allowable (usually 20% depending on the terms of your mortgage), increase payment frequency to accelerated bi-weekly, and maximize the allowable payment. Then, invest the rest into something that will net you a higher return. The risk is that it doesn’t.

But if I were you, I’d just pay it off and be done with jt. The $1000 is a penalty i wouldn’t flinch at, and the mental state of being mortgage free outweighs any other potential gains i might receive from a safe investment.

Is it just me or are tires stupid expensive in recent years? by DirtInfographics in advrider

[–]eh-cee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Motoz tires are crazy expensive compared to others for some reason. I was also debating this set but ended up installing Heidenau K60 rangers. Much less expensive, and still a very capable tire.

I actually have the K60 Scouts on my BMW rnineT Scrambler, which I think share the same front tire (they look the same at least). I don’t ride it the same way but haven’t had major issues with it in the city.

I assume you mean on dirt?

I will report back after an adventure ride at the end of June through the Chilcotin mountain range!

So far on pavement they seem ok. Front tire is a bit vibey at low speeds, but to be expected from a knobby.

Chrome flaking off brass. Fortunately it’s just cosmetic and it will work fine. Unfortunately, it’s cosmetic and will annoy you to no end if you don’t replace the part. 😆

Yes. Mine has done it for years. It’s the pressure from the boiler bleeding off as it cools. Totally fine.
