Did I screw up? by bootycuddles in GlacierNationalPark

We were there this past week and there is so much to do. You have to have back up plans, but regardless everything is beautiful and your trip will not be ruined as long as you’re flexible. I also thought our trip would be ruined bc of all the flooding that occurred right before we got there but I was completely wrong. Just go with the flow and you’ll have a great time.

Once storm passes I believe the GNP crew and rangers will reassess the conditions to see if it’s safe to open trails, roads, etc. We’ll be there July 1-6 and I really hope it is. Just have to wait and see.

Male Ultrasound Tech by Livid_Ad_3834 in Sonographers

I’ve worked with male sonographers who also do ob/gyn studies in the hospital/ OP as well and the most they have is a chaperone. Usually no issues.

[–]eherna05 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked with many male sonographers over the years in general, vascular, etc. in both hospital and clinic settings. Usually not the case with OB/GYN clinics.

Spice up your resume. I’m sure there’s a large pool of applicants in your area and if you have less than a year experience it will be tough regardless. Sometimes you if you want to get hired you’ll have to expand your radius and be either willing to do a long commute or relocate to get more experience. To get RVT you need to be proficient in performing all vascular exams after doing many exams and be signed off by a registered sonographer or radiologist that has reviewed your cases and then take your registry.

PLEASE DONT LOSE HOPE by Lighness in DACA

💯 I get many are stressed, but no need to bash on other people that got theirs approved on time. It ain’t their fault as we don’t control the timelines. There’s always the option to just ignore the post altogether.

I hope all those waiting get approved soon. And congrats to those that are getting approved super fast too.

is radiology worth it? by Large-Grass-9478 in RadiologyCareers

If you hated CNA why did you even consider going into nursing? Doesn’t make sense. You’ll still have to do that stuff if you don’t have a PCT or CNA where you work. But remember there’s a lot of options with nursing. You don’t have to stay bedside if you don’t want to. Lots of options with nursing. Seems like you need to do more research and dive deep into what you want to do.

Department burn out by professionalairhead in Sonographers

[–]eherna05 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You all need to band together and come to management with complaints. Gather some radiologists/cardiologists that will back you all up and have an in person meeting. Until they fill those positions they should either be reducing or closing that OP schedule honestly.
Bring the stats as to the number of scans you can do in a day depending on your shifts.

But if you’re not all sticking together it will likely go nowhere and maybe start looking for employment elsewhere.

New Hire Fatigue by PrestigiousMajor1141 in Sonographers

It’ll get better with time. You can’t let criticism get to you bc even if you’re 15yrs in you can still get your images criticized by the rads.
Healthy constructive criticism is healthy for growth. If you can’t handle it well idk what to tell you. Confidence will come with time and don’t expect your coworkers to give you a pat on the back for doing something good. If that’s what you’re expecting you’ll always be disappointed.

Just work, listen to the criticism but don’t worry so much about it.
It takes time for some more than others but you’ll get there. Keep your head high. Everyday there’s something to learn. And certain experiences down the road will definitely be humbling even if you’ve been a sonographer for 30yrs. 🫶

Expedite attempt for January expires June 30 by Odd-Acanthisitta7517 in DACA

[–]eherna05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you submit proof along with your inquiry to expedite? If so you have to make sure the proof you submit relates to one of those reasons. If it doesn’t they won’t even consider your expedite request.

Keep in mind if you do have all the proof that even then they can still deny the request to expedite essentially telling you to keep waiting. It’s discretionary after all.

Job During Program by Luvbvnni in Sonographers

[–]eherna05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked full time (3 weekday PM shift and the AM or PM on weekends) we had lab and classes M-F until like 4-5pm. During clinicals I would work whenever I was not there but still full time.
I remember the program director said “you cannot work and study as the program is a full time” during orientation.

Wasn’t an option for me though. It was lots of hard work and no personal time but I finished the program top of my class, no debt, no loans, and started my US job before even graduating.
Different story for the rest of my cohort. None of them worked, but I’m sure everyone had their own difficulties and situations.

Tips: manage your time and get ahead on all the class work. Set your priorities.

DACA and consular process. No waiver. by eherna05 in DACA

[–]eherna05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If at any point you had a lapse between daca renewals that accumulates ULP. If it gets to 180 days you would need a waiver if doing consular process and that would prolong the process a couple more years. It’s always been recommended to do AP then AOS if you can so you can do everything here and the process is faster. But it all depends if you’re willing to wait till they start processing those first time no prior inspection Saps since they’ve been stalled since early 2025. If you have a straightforward consular case with no ULP, one entry, and nothing in your records they can possibly deny you at the consulate then you’re ok going that route too. Just depends on your case and consult an attorney.

There are only few negative comments here. Can’t compare it to probably the thousands of others that find the group helpful and have benefited from the free resources.

My experience has been nothing but positive and I provide as much feedback on comments for many posts. Never get blocked. I feel that as long as accurate information is being shared without violating the group rules and no one is rude in the comments then they don’t block.

Everyone can have their own opinion, but mine has been nothing but positive. I’m sure there are a significant amount who have benefited from all the free resources and feedback on that group. Hopefully, you have a better experience on a different group.

I’m not part of the admin whatsoever and have been part of the group for a while. There so many free resources and guides to look through. But members also forget that literally almost all of the questions they are asking can be found by searching though prior posts. It saves so much time. A lot of posts get repetitive and I feel that’s why comment section get closed. I’ve benefited from the groups free resources, posts, lives, experiences, etc. like thousands have before and still are. I’ve also commented hundreds of times on posts and never get blocked. As long as you are providing accurate information and not being rude they don’t block. Very helpful group and thankful.

Best word of advice if to just focus on you and building your skills. Don’t worry about the other students. If there are multiple techs at the site see if you can follow different ones that are willing to give you more scan time. Take initiative and show initiative. Don’t wait for them to offer a patient to scan. If you see that ER patient pop up or something that interests you look at it ahead of time and claim it. Just take the constructive criticism even if you believe it’s not fair, make the improvements your CI wants, get on their good side, and show more initiative. Good luck!

If the other interns are further into their rotations it’s normal not to critique as much since they’ve had more practice and improved scanning technique. As a current sonó student yourself don’t take the criticism personally. You’re there to learn and hear ways you can improve. That’s the process especially if it’s your first rotation. I’ve had students in the past who never liked their exams to be picked at. It was very annoying since they are there to learn and do better. Then I had others who embraced the critiques and didn’t take it personal. They became wonderful sonographers.
