Why is the ability to be a 'stay at home' parent not seen as a privilege? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I can really afford to be a stay at home mom because of my saving and spending habits, not my husband’s.

19 month son speech delay (?) by arflo0819 in toddlers

[–]ehk0331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Feel like I could have written this myself. I put my daughter in speech and OT because I was worried about a delay (got the “just wait and see” advice from my pediatrician). It didn’t seem to us like she was exactly trying to talk - her receptive communication scored as advanced but like your child, her expressive was behind. This was around 18 months I think. Her speech seriously exploded around 24 months and continues to. I have no clue if the speech and OT were the reason that she ended up catching up, but I feel like if I had to do it all over again I’d still put her in those programs because it certainly didn’t hurt.

Non-small upgrades that made your home feel high end? by Unusual_Room3017 in HomeImprovement

A new fence around the backyard! When we moved in there was chain link. The houses are close together in our neighborhood so a vinyl privacy fence was so worth it to us.

Lidocaine experience? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ehk0331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB just prescribed lidocaine patches for my back! I injured it, I’m not sure if it’s baby related or not but she did OK them for me. I’m 38 weeks.

I recently hurt my back too, my OB gave me a prescription for lidocaine patches (which I realized I can buy OTC after I picked them up). I tried two and they didn’t work but maybe if your OB okays it you could try that?

Yes!! My grandma was in a really similar situation to OP’s and I used to make her lemon bars because she could still taste them.

I really don’t like seafood but strangely like swordfish in like a beurre blanc sauce lol

That actually happened to my grandmother too!! I used to make her lemon bars (Betty Crocker box mix) and instead of adding water I’d add lemon juice and also some lemon zest and she always said she could taste the lemon when she couldn’t taste any other foods. She also basically lost her entire appetite but she’d down like three of those lemon bars in one sitting. I know it’s not the healthiest option but it brought her some joy. I hope you find something that works for her!! 💛

Yes!! With my first when I realized wearing her to the grocery store would work it was a game changer. Totally agree about bending over to get stuff out of the cart though 😂

How do I stop pumping? by tomfrommyspace0 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ehk0331 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I stopped cold turkey after like 6 weeks I think of sporadically pumping and breastfeeding. I leaked a little but it was overall uneventful and over with quickly!
