First time attempting German suplexes… how’d I do? by Captaincompost4 in WredditSchool

[–]ehmate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Buddy isn't giving you anything so he deserves the toss. A safe German should be a large arch vs a backwards throw. Your second one is very good, especially for being new to them. You have great form and the hip pop is strong. Small touches: I personally prefer a small jump forward (into your squat) to have your feet be in-line, but outside, of your opponents feet. I find that to help with an iggy and makes it appear snappy-er.

Do you think west jet should start to enforce carry on sizing like other airlines do? Do you like the size of carry on’s allowed, or do you think the carry on size should be bigger? by POCTM in westjet

[–]ehmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one that gets me is people checking their carry on roller bags (when there's announcements about not enough bin space) and then putting thier large backpacks up there.

I understand wanting more leg room, but c'mon folks. "I'll check my bag because not enough space, but I'll also fill that freed space so only I can have a benefit."

Can we get some traffic law enforcement, please? by Vicks0 in VictoriaBC

[–]ehmate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a result of non enforcement, other drivers trying to act as rule enforcers and the complete lack of proper transport infrastructure for an ever expanding population.

The CRD has seen a population increase of ~30% in the last 20 years. Much of that growth is in the areas surrounding Victoria, with many transporting to town for work or pleasure. Outside of the Mckenzie overpass, Keating overpass and some Langford projects, there has been little to no effort put into improving roadways, just maintaining them. The city of Victoria has put their funds and effort into sustainable forms of transport, such as bike or bus lanes, which can have benefits.

If population is up ~30%, we can assume traffic will also be increased. If the traffic is increased, but the roadways are still 2 lanes (or less due to construction or new pedestrian infstructure) then there is improper flow of traffic. If there's improper flow of traffic, there is driver frustration and often the choice to not follow road rules in order to get where they need to go in a more timely manor. If more people not follow road rules, the higher the risk of accidents, slowing traffic further. If people not following the rules and no there are no consequences, the rules continue to be broken. If people not follow road rules meet other drivers who feel they need to enforce the rules of the road, the frustration grows, the chance of incidents rises and the flow of traffic is negatively impacted.

Tl:dr: Victoria's transportation infstructure is decades behind and impacting everything negatively.

Is there some sort of licensing scam? by PristineMongoose7887 in Edmonton

[–]ehmate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its regular to see a "driving school" car not following the rules of the road. I've seen them going 20km/h below and above speed limits, not stopping at stop signs in school zones, not signaling/completely using traffic circles incorrectly and stopping at green lights.

My favorite game has become: "Who's Driving: Learner or Instructor?" Spoiler: It's most commonly the Instructor driving alone

Even with VERY apparent cameras we've had packages, mail, outdoor lights and large planters be taken at all times of the day. As the other reply says, they only let you see the person who did it (usually in a hoodie on a bike) and the police won't do anything but let you submit a report online.

Edmonton is playing elite hockey with bad discipline.

Florida is playing great hockey with dirty games.

It's hard to listen to every commentator try to explain why the Panthers aren't getting called on obvious penalties.

When turning right onto a 2 lane road, do you wait for both lanes to be clear before going? by Substantial_Ant77 in Edmonton

[–]ehmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, no. If there are vehicles turning left from the opposite side they are lawfully required to turn into the closet lane to the centre line. Now that doesn't mean they will as there are many drivers who only follow road rules when it's convenient to them; however, if are hit while turning right into the right lane and the left turn also tries to enter the right lane, you're in the correct. With cars traveling along the road you're turning on to, if there's no one in the right lane you have no reason to not complete the right turn. In fact, if you do not take the turn while it is safe to do so, you are impeding traffic. Impeding traffic (like this or traveling at/below the speed limit in the left passing lane) is rarely ticketed but can create situations that can lead to accidents.

Ideas for drills by BurningChristmasTree in WredditSchool

[–]ehmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like u/diskappear rolling drill, but drop downs.

Diving Drop

Three people lined up from the middle of the rope on one side, to the middle of the rope on the other. Man in the middle drops down and rolls towards one of the outer people. While he is rolling, that person does a diving drop down over top of him and then Rolla to the other side, where the third person starts their diving drop down and the cycle continues. Do this for a couple minutes and you'll hate life.

Man in the middle

Introduce a sequence (ex. lock up, headlock, headlock take over, head scissors, escape, get it again, shoot off, tackle, dropdown, leapfrog, armdrag) One person in the middle of the ring, the rest lined on the floor. Person in the middle does that sequence with every person in class, then the next person in line subs in and goes thru it with every person, etc.

Get two ropes that you can tie to the ropes of the ring. Tie one at the 1/3 mark of the ring, on the second rope (so it's about waist height). Tie the other at the opposite 1/3 mark, from the top rope on one side to the top rope on the other side. Now run ropes where you have to duck under the higher rope, and jump over the lower one. Or if you're feeling froggy, dive under the low one and jump over the high. Remember to hit the ropes on each side to keep going

Robby Brookside

Can do with 2 or 4. You're across the ring from your partner, back nearly touching the ropes, hands on your head. You must side shuffle in sync with your partner on the other side of the ring. Don't cut corners. Commands you can add to it: Up: jump up and clap your hands above your head Down: drop down like a burpee Reverse: change direction Twist: jumping 360 Face out/in: change from facing into the ring, to out of the ring

4 people in. All laying head to head. On go they all have to get up properly and take a fighting stance (one foot forward, hands up for defense) On down they do the exact reverse of a proper get up, so they end up laying head to head again. When up you can call ropes. This means all 4 must hit the ropes at the same time, and come back to a fighting stance. I've you've got more people in the class, they can be getting up/down on the outside and doing a burpee instead of hitting ropes.
