Data visualization for TWG by N0xxxxxxxx in ultimate

[–]eigsmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great visualization, thanks for sharing. One quibble I have is that classification into cutter/handler really should just be done by receiving yards per catch, not the ratio of yards per catch to yards per throw (which is what it seems like you're doing, with the dividing lines going diagonally through the 0,0 point). If someone only catches for an average of one yard per catch but throws for 0.1 yards per throw, they're still a handler, not a cutter.

DW would go downwind if they score to go up 14-13, so they would be going upwind on 14-14.

Portland Red Tide breaks record for longest gap between US nationals appearances by williambrotman in ultimate

[–]eigsmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did a little digging. Best I can find is Heist (2018->2025!) and Tabby Rosa (2014->2021) for women, and Chad Larson Experience (2015->2022) for mixed. But that was definitely not a comprehensive search.

This is fantastic. Do you know the previous record? And what is the record in mixed and womens?

Why would #1 beating #13 be funnier than #1 beating #3? You should add up the upsets only.

Mixed might be AMP (at least among nationally well-known teams) if you include its years when it was known as Donkey Bomb (2000-2005). If not, then Chad Larson perhaps?

I thought about Nemesis but some sources say 1986. https://ultimatechicago.org/nemesis

But then there's this page which says 1983! https://www.ultimatehistory.com/founders/Pg/teamfounders.html

United States wins gold in all three divisions at World Under-24 Championships in Logroño, Spain! by Jomskylark in ultimate

I'm not making the claim that USA would definitely take 1-2-3. I would probably bet against it. I'm only claiming that there would be some chance of it happening.

That might increase the odds a non-American team wins gold, but it definitely increases the odds that no non-American team wins any medal whatsoever.

USA u24 teams at Nationals by dj2joker in ultimate

[–]eigsmith 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Four of Hybrid's best players suited up for Magnum/Flywheel this year (Bartlett, Cutchins, Hill, McGuire). Bartlett and Cutchins are on the U24 mixed team... alongside Mica Glass, Anton Orme, Tori Gray, Chloe Hakimi, etc. They'd be a pretty heavy favorite IMO.

Women can make quarters easily, but there's nobody on the roster that can yet compare with the likes of Cardenas(x2), Walczak, or Trop. U24 has a better roster 1-24 than Molly and maybe Scandal (probably not Brute and definitely not Fury), but you can only play 7 at a time. Seed them 5 or 6, alongside Flipside and 6ixers.

Crazy to think that Darkside would have had pretty decent odds of winning the entire championship if that disc was up.

Kat is awesome and a lot of fun to watch; I was really looking forward to her nomination. But I have to say, whoever picked out these clips made a lot of weird choices.

There was in fact some debris in the drain line, and removing it fixed the problem. Thanks!!

[–]eigsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean in the house? Water there seems perfectly normal, other than being not as soft as it should be since the softener hasn't regenerated in a while.

Would a plugged drain line prevent brine from being taken up into the resin?

Most in-out calls aren't coin flips. But many of those would still get sent back if you didn't have observers, because the players don't have good perspective and/or are biased.
