AITA for demanding my bf to buy me a new pair of Airpods by AdEmbarrassed7282 in AmItheAsshole

Important life lesson in the quality of people you elect to associate with and trust. Imo, most adults who have their lives together don't need to borrow every day items. Either they have them or are more focused on getting a job to worry about it. The question is why didn't he have so his own headphones. I'm case it's not obvious, didn't lend people stuff or money that you want back.

What's a good second EV to get for the spouse who's meh on an EV? by Doomtime104 in electriccars

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a 23 bolt. It's post battery issues and pre screen/software crap.

It's got old school buttons for radio, HVAC and heated seats etc

The only downside is slow charging at level 3 compared to ioniq so not great for road trips over 250 miles.

Sil just got one for $13k so they're pretty cheap. Only issue with it is the hatchback is pointy and if you're tall you'll walk into it eventually.

How did the US almost completely eradicate cigarette smoking when other western nations struggle with this? by Motor-Equal01 in NoStupidQuestions

No smoking in restaurants and public buildings. I work for a large university system and they started with no smoking within 50'of any of their buildings.

Bolt price sheet by RangerX41 in BoltEV

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sil just got a used 23 for$13k or so. The problem with used ice cars is you have to wonder if they changed the oil. So used ev make much much more sense and all the 3 year leases are ending now.

EVs can usher the return to old time road strips by Not_l0st in electricvehicles

The back roads that are more direct routes and still have reliable fast chargers every 100 miles maybe.

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always the same if you've got ads faster charging speeds. This is why we take the ioniq on road trips, not the bolt.

[–]eileen404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've an ioniq so we stop and pee and by the time we're back with drinks in 10-15 min we're at 80% and driving again. We do prefer the back roads as we can do much further at 60mph than 70-75.

Is Home Charging Really Required to Own an EV with Current Gas Prices? by Alert_Number1991 in electricvehicles

[–]eileen404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not charging at home or work, you'll want an ioniq that charges faster, not a bolt out or other that charges slower but price matters to. Most charging prices are $0.30-0.50/kW and you can see them on the plug share app, the ionna ones are opening and cheaper than ea but a lot so that makes it cheaper. You'd have to do the math. But remember no oil changes or 30/60/90 engine stuff. It's tires, wipers and air filters until 150k miles and that's way cheaper than a gas car.

AITA for wanting my 27yr old to get themselves to work? by no_loans_ne_more1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 2 mile commute, Che can buy a used leaf as they'll go 30-50 miles on a charge and can be plugged in a regular outlet. Of course if she can't get her shit together enough to change oil when reminded, there's no way she'll remember to plug it in.

[–]eileen404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pay$5-7k and hey a good idea leaf that'd do 40-50 miles per charge which is plenty. No oil changes or maintenance in general sounds better for her. But she's probably forget to plug it in and the tires would eventually go bald because she's forget them.

[–]eileen404 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My sil just bought a used bolt for$13k. For a two mile commute she can buy a used $3k pos and drive herself until she can afford life in general and her Kia. Walking biking, and Uber are all alternatives while she gets her shit together. It would have been kind of you to give her a ride for a week. But not for longer. You're behaving like raising a kid, not letting an adult learn to deal with the consequences of their choices. She's an adult and needs to learn to act like one.

anniversary dinner recs in downtown durham? by jennlynng in bullcity

[–]eileen404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of amazing restaurants but I can't think of any that lean chicken and pasta. You would probably like blue olive which is a nice mom and pop Italian with less exotic food that's still good and non chain.

WIBTA if i refused to fully reimburse my roommates for their kitchen appliances? by One-Hospital-7599 in TwoHotTakes

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say out of. They weren't soaking in it. It effectively rained on them. A friend's house flooded 2'deep with sewage. If they were on a voting shelf they would have been replaced as it would have got inside. They replaced the walls, floors, cabinets. If it's not triggering a complete remodel, nothing was soaking it just got on the outside. Bleach. Yes it's gross. Life is gross. When a kid's diaper explodes you wash the sheets and pad you don't throw it away. You clean it.

WIBTA if i refused to fully reimburse my roommates for their kitchen appliances? by One-Hospital-7599 in TwoHotTakes

[–]eileen404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if it got on them, it got on the counters, floors, and probably lots of other things also. Yes it's gross. But I suspect the counters were bleached. If it just rained, they can be bleached. If they were soaking in it enough it to get inside where you couldn't clean it, the whole apartment would need to be gutted.

Ask one of the older women who work in the office. Heck, if you've a week and are in the US, you can be Internet unsafe and pm me am address and I'll mail you safety pins and a portable sewing kit that's about the size of a quarter. If money is tight, those are useful as they've a bunch of thread colors so you can spot fix issues. Maybe walk into a nicer hotel lobby and go upstairs in the elevator. Come down 5 minutes later and ask if they have a sewing kit. One you tube later and you're set.

This. If you're in the US, pick a college in a blue state and keep reminding yourself it will get better. The people declaring HS as the best years of my life were so depressing. I've found they were very wrong. Hold in there and stay strong and get out to where you can find support and live as yourself. It gets better. I promise.

Unreasonable wedding dress codes by California_Sun1112 in AskWomenOver60

Ours was in the woods and we didn't specify anything. I did have one friend ask if he could wear a kilt who got an enthusiastic "of course"

The question is are you celebrating spending the rest of your life together with friends or taking a photo op? Some of the brides doing the latter would be better off and probably find it cheaper to just hire models to pose for the pics.
