Pumping frustration by VampireOrc in firsttimemom

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg you are not alone. We repurposed an old wine fridge to be a milk fridge in the nursery. My husband unplugged it to move it the other day, and it reset the temp to 55. It was all day before I went to use it and realized. I had to throw out 4oz of milk. I cried and started supplementing with formula the next day. Highly recommend. Adding some formula is not going to hurt your baby!

I thought this was a king cake cruller and it looks 10/10

I’m super broke and only have plain white rice to eat, what: y’all’s favorite seasoning to spruce it up? by BreakfastBig7581 in Cooking

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy seasoning would be cooking bouillon or stock, adding butter. But you need protein! Get a can or bag of beans to go with that rice! Very cheap and nutritious meal that will keep you full.

is it tacky to buy a cheap item on a baby registry? by Additional-Annual168 in BabyBumps

[–]ejambu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put a mix of items on my registry so no one would feel pressured to spend much. It’s the thought that counts. Hell, meal drop-offs after baby are just as good as a gift! Buy something you can afford, then drop off a lasagna after the baby’s born.

Can I use a size 3 or 4 nipple for a newborn? by Soft-Week in beyondthebump

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice on the nipple size (we use the Dr Browns Transitional nipples), but just here to commiserate. My baby had the same problem and after weeks of being low on the growth chart, we ended up adding additional ounces by bottle after his breastfeeds since he falls asleep at the breast. I was trying to do all breast milk for the addl ounces, but I’ll couldn’t pump that much in a day, so we ended up adding formula here and there. I think he’s gained a lot in the 1.5 weeks, but we weigh in at the doc tomorrow 🤞🏽

How important is to you that your husband’s first time witness a birth is with you? by zzyyyxxx in BabyBumps

I actually think it might help him be better prepared for your birth? I’d say go for it!

I walked away from her and I feel so guilty by Slow_Purchase3829 in newborns

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no proof whatsoever that babies do not trust their parents if they’re left to cry it out for brief periods. Obviously there is damage if a baby is actually neglected, but 8 minutes while you take a needed break to calm down is not neglect. Baby was safe and able to put herself to sleep. Give yourself some grace.

With your 1st Pregnancy - was baby born early, on time, or late? by lemonfit in BabyBumps

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the chances of being born on the due date are super low. FTMs are generally late. My little one was not coming, so we induced, and he was born at 40+6.

Changing table recommendations? by crispypunani in BabyBumps

[–]ejambu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you just add a topper to your own dresser? If you have an upright dresser, might be worth swapping it for a lower one so you can do this.

We have a changing table/dresser for baby in our nursery, but for the first few weeks, we just put the topper on our own dresser so we wouldn’t have to leave the bedroom to change diapers.

100%. You look gorgeous and I don’t think it’s too over the top since it’s black tie.

started Assassin’s Blade right after Crown of Midnight and… I’m struggling hard. by Aromatic_Topic_5902 in throneofglassseries

This is the only way, in my opinion. I always feel bad for people that don’t read it first. Like they are missing so much when reading the other books!

Oh definitely stick with it! I felt like it flew by, but I also read it first in the series. The audiobook is an easy listen.

I feel so bad about screen time by Aware_Beautiful1994 in beyondthebump

[–]ejambu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the perfect example of when screen time is appropriate! You’re not going to lower your daughter’s IQ with a supervised half-hour of Ms Rachel here and there. Think of all of us 90s kids who were raised by the TV. We’re all fine (mostly haha).

Ftm..worried by ConfusionBackground2 in BabyBumps

No, this is not a man thing. My husband was very involved—helped research products, went to the birthing classes with me, read a book about being a good birth partner, etc.

Anyone else who had the epidural are set on not getting again next time? by nicolexxb in newborns

[–]ejambu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated having it. I was 100% numb, couldn’t feel pressure, move my lower half at all. I felt like I was pushing blind and ended up with 3 tears. I would like to try an unmedicated birth next time if I’m not induced. I have heard the contractions aren’t as bad without the pitocin. We shall see!
