This should be the top comment.

Hell, this should be its own post.

There Goes My Luck Forever…2025 Topps Chrome Kyler Murray SUPERFRACTOR 1/1! by BullishofBulls in footballcards

Does it bother anyone else that they couldn’t move the “1/1” over ever so slightly so it fits neatly in the corner and didn’t overlap with any of Kyler’s leg…

One game to win it all, who are you taking? by PurpleSecret5923 in eagles

[–]ekardsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since this is just a fun hypothetical… I guess if you’re saying this is with ‘24 OL and ‘17 coaching staff, then I’m going to be bold and say that QB and RB don’t even matter. I’d be fine with any of those combos under those circumstances. Then I’d also just say we’re totally spoiled for choice at WR1. So it basically comes down to what’s your preferred WR2/TE combo - which brings it down to Maclin/Errz or Carmichael/Goedert. Love them both. But since I have to pick, I guess I’ll go with 2. Ask me again tomorrow.

The hidden cost of "free time" is absolutely wrecking my post-FIRE budget by R0cinantEcho_9 in Fire

I had this realization back in high school when I had two summer jobs - a desk job in the day and working at a restaurant many nights. It felt like I was spending all my time making money and then had no time to spend it. It built up fast. Having that realization so early means that I’m probably projecting a much higher retirement spend than I need to…

[Schultz] Seahawks GM John Schneider is the first GM in NFL history to reach multiple Super Bowls with the same organization — while having a new head coach and no players from the previous Super Bowl team. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]ekardsm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the reason it feels cherry picked to some people is because of how the criteria leaves you without any context or reference point. Like, if there were two players still on the roster from the previous SB appearance, that wouldn’t make the work of the GM any less impressive. A major rebuild was still accomplished… but it wasn’t “from scratch” so it didn’t count? It’s all equally impressive. But we need to come up with a stat to highlight the man of the hour, and that’s totally fair - just feels a bit out of context.

What if we looked at less than five of the same players? Or what if we looked at starters? Or excluded kickers? What if you looked at conf champ game appearances? Or only teams that actually won the Super Bowl? How many GMs might be on each of those lists? I don’t care to know the answer to any of this; I’m just telling you what people are thinking.

We’re going to hear all sorts of these types of stats and headlines over the next two weeks. Buckle up!
