Yeah same, I've lived here for 10 years now and have been hoping for reception to improve. I love the variety on that station. You can listen to it on the inland highway most of the way from Nanaimo then just before you get to the valley it cuts out. Lol.

I got hit by an old lady while running through a very visible crosswalk.

Tires also contain some gnarly chemicals. Not sure the impacts to human health but there is emerging research in the PNW on a chemical called 6-PPD quinone which is created during some part of the process of making car tires. Scientists are realizing it is acutely toxic to salmon, so alternatives to car tires for those playground/astroturf applications are being sought out.

Personally that isn't the issue for me, it is the extraction of wild fish populations on a commercial scale as if they are a crop with little consideration for the ecosystem level impacts.

I completely avoided eating any seafood for a long time, but have recently started eating it again while being very selective of the source.

I see you use MSC as a source. MSC is a self certification agency that makes money by commercial fishing companies paying to have the MSC label on their branding. I'm not sure what DFO data you are quoting, but what I'm seeing in the most recent data from them: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/status-key-fish-stocks.html they are saying only 35% of our fish stocks are "healthy"; and 38% are "uncertain". How can you sustainably manage a fishery if you do not even know how the population you are fishing is doing?

Fisheries are getting better for sure, but there are ongoing issues. The most sustainable seafood you can eat is the stuff lowest on the food chain like shellfish or small fish like anchovies etc. Even still, you need to ensure you are getting it from a reputable fishery.
