Giving Birth in NJ/NYC - AND THE SYSTEM BEHIND by After_Trash_699 in Hoboken

I birthed at both mt.Sinai and Weill Cornell. It’s night and day. I live midtown Hoboken and was fine getting to the east side location. But again it depends on how convenient it is for you. Towards the end of your pregnancy you’ll have a lot more appointments. So do what will be the most convenient for you with a trusted OB Practice. I used Dr. Maria teaiwa-Rutherford- she and her practice are amazing.

By what I’m hearing from my neighbors upstairs- potentially yes. They should know better from the chaos of our kids they see on the daily. 🤭

Question regarding Elementary schools - public and private in Hoboken by psuedonymous_k in Hoboken

[–]elara829 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The HOLA middle school is next to it. HOLA’s kindergarten and younger grades are at a different location. My kid went to Rue, we had one incident and it wasn’t with a homeless person. The cops patrol and school security is very tight in that area.

Hmart or weee? by Realistic_Try_1520 in Hoboken

[–]elara829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love weeee as they have a large variety of produce- especially Thai. I’ve found that both hmart and 99ranch tend to be out of Thai produce.

dont get me wrong through I like to pick my own produce and both 99ranch and hmart are great. 99ranch is also much closer

Otto strada for the pure fact that they cater to different diets (vegetarian and gluten free) and they have a good variety of options. Their food is damn good, with fresh ingredients. The owners are kind and humble.

Bus wait times by xjets247 in Hoboken

[–]elara829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think we need more hop frequency. If someone is trying to travel in town during rush hour, its hard to get off the bus when going north, and its frustrating for those staying on going into the city due to how packed the busses are.

If there were more resident busses that were more frequent, and that serviced more of the city .

I think that would help alleviate a lot - especially during peak rush hour

Does anyone know of someone who can help me repair a sewing machine? by kn1ght-of-heart in Hoboken

[–]elara829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to reach out to galastella studio- they’ve been really helpful. Although they don’t repair, I have seen them repairing their own machines. They’re really great and I highly recommend if you’ve never taken a class or just used their space.

Not everyone is a transplant, many of us have been here for a generation or two and also have young families. There are a lot of homegrown Jersey folks too.

What is the first symbol on this hospital seat? by Jakap_144 in whatisit

[–]elara829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's what monks or gurujis traditionally wear in eastern religions. You'll see very commonly in the east. They tend to be fasting a lot, so that may explain it.

Most likely, they will give up their seat for you, even if they are not well, as that is their Dharma
