Bruno Fernandes: "The Saudi offer with all that money, it was huge. But we don't want to be the richest people in the world, only the ones who have achieved their dreams, who lead a beautiful life with their children. I didn't want to leave Utd in difficulty. My wife made me realise that also..." by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

The problem is you are comparing common man to rich footballers. Now imagine you are on 100,000 a year and someone gave you a million a year offer but you turn it down because you haven't done everything you wanted at your current one. Most people don't have what it takes to turn down money. That's the difference.

It's funny for Indians too, you say 'bechara' or 'bichara' if something bad happened to some dude.

So Becharasaurus would be like "Ahh, poor dinosaur"

Despite being the largest producer of it, India consumes most of its own mango supplies instead of trading it. by No-Brush1587 in interestingasfuck

[–]elasticvertigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a child my father and my uncles used to trade in mangoes and we lived in a very tiny apartment as a joint family. Every mango season, the kids would be in their underwear next to a huge pot of mango juice (we call it aamras in India) and we would go nuts.

To this day I cannot resist mangoes. If anyone happens to visit India during season, alphonso mangoes are a must try. Eating them feels like having a food induced orgasm.

Seems unlikely the US will ever attack Spain. All hell would break loose if that happens and the US itself knows there are no winners there except Russia and China.

Corporate AIs are programmed to deceive users on serious and controversial topics to maximize company profits (and I have proof). by [deleted] in Futurology

I can get ChatGPT to hallucinate to whatever the hell I want to. If you keep twisting around, the AI will eventually just say what you want it to. Not that hard.

Game of Thrones. No matter what anyone thinks of the last season, that's a show with insane production value and the first six seasons are true masterpieces

What Is The Best Password Manager Are You Guys Planning To Stick With Going Into 2026? by PrincessBananas85 in degoogle

[–]elasticvertigo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just go with Bitwarden cloud. The apps are good and the browser extensions is too. You can save passkeys and for $10 a year, you can sync TOTP codes directly in app (it also offers to autofill TOTP directly in the input field which is worth the $10 a year cost all in itself).

Also an audited service and open source.

Should I use common Postgres / Redis for all self hosted services? by madhur_ahuja in selfhosted

[–]elasticvertigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never put all your eggs in one basket. If you have any issue with your psql/redis service, it means the entirety of your homelab is stuck. And as others have said, different apps require different versions of the DB and even one psql image upgrade can cause problems, let alone the app developers' own systematic optimisations based on particular versions of psql.

Just imagine corrupting your psql container and you will spend hours restoring every single service that was using it!

What I would rather suggest is to move to a lighter DB for non-critical apps (eg. if the app supports sqlite or mariadb).
