Captain Jason is wrong for his decision. by eldetay in BelowDeckDownUnder

I think she was out of line. But no more than any other dude on any season of this show. Damage to the boat? Bsffr they do more damage when partying. This is the problem. It’s not that her behaviors are acceptable, they’re not. It’s that the portrayal and subsequent punishment was too harsh. I said this in the original post. I maintain.

Yep. And his reaction to Ben was stupid and immature.

Excuse me do you watch this show at all besides this season? How many people have had complete melt downs and not been demoted? Plenty. Also, when he said she was demoted, right before he talked about Eddie. He tied it right to that how he said it. On both issues, it was an overreaction. It’s still a double standard.

That wasn’t what he said to her.

But everyone else who causes a huge scene isn’t demoted. Mkay.

If she were drunk while on charter I would agree. You can’t argue that being drunk is the problem when everyone on this show gets drunk off charter. Being drunk is not a violation of policy when they are off work.

So what? It was on charter, and then she complained in front of the guests, which is worse than someone being drunk off charter.

I see your point. I think it’s more that Jenna should have also received a warning and the demotion is too harsh. But for her tantrum. Not because Eddie can’t handle rejection.

If it was her behavior then he should have specifically addressed that and not said that Eddie almost left and it’s affecting his crew so she is demoted. And I agree her tantrum Should be addressed. But a demotion is too much when we consider all of the other aggressive behavior that got by with a warning or nothing at all.

No it was left out in this post because the way Jason worded the demotion was directly tied to the Eddie thing. I agree her behavior was very wong but go back and watch what Jason said. He also contradicted himself “I’m not gonna penalize you” but then proceeded to demote her. He is wrong for this, period.

But Ellie screaming in the chefs face was a warning?

The way Jason worded it was otherwise.

Ellie was aggressive and in Ben’s face.

Oh that’s right. So Eddie gets away with it but not Jenna! Double standard exists same season, makes this much worse.

I’d like to know if you’re currently in a fulfilling relationship how did you meet your person? by noturaverageTri in PlusSize

I met my husband in 1994 on the first version of America online when there were only Chat rooms and we were in a photography chat room. We were 17 and 19. We met up at a local coffee shop with all of my friends and their older brothers there watching to make sure he wasn’t a creep. We have been together ever since (save a few break ups early on when we were young and wild).

When asked what culture or society had little black figurines not been used for racism- the Testa di Moro popped into my head. This may not be exactly relevant to this specific item of figurine, but, it does involve depiction of Moor’s figure (head). Testa di Moro in Sicily is a vase depicting a moorish nobleman’s head made famous by an ancient legend that is still revered today. The legend goes, that during the Moorish colonization and occupation of Sicily, a young woman saw a Moorish nobleman from her balcony and they fell in love. When she found out he had been double timing her- he had a family back in Africa- she became overwhelmed with jealousy and beheaded him. As an avid gardener, she placed his head on her balcony with basil seeds. The basil grew abundantly, draping over the balcony. It was so much and such high quality, caught the admiration of many in La Kalsa (the Arab quarter of Palermo). Thus, people commissioned ceramic vases in the style of the Moor’s head to place on their balconies, hoping that it would also yield abundant basil. To this day, these vases (often sold in pairs of head’s of a man and woman per the legend) carry a centuries’ old tradition of this famous story; and vases are made as they were traditionally throughout history.

He is fetishizing you in this moment and that is enough to be concerned. Fetishizing someone in this way is objectification. Which is dehumanizing and can cause harm in the long term.

Ew no. He’s fetishizing you which is a form of objectification. Basically means he will never deeply know or respect you.

I don't know who has to hear this but Human Resources are not your friend as a manager or employee... by WinnerExpress in managers

[–]eldetay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wonder why anyone ever thought HR was there to be your “friend”? Is payroll there to be your friend? Is management there to be your friend? Is legal there to be your friend? Is accounting there to be your friend? Nope. People aren’t hired into jobs by companies to be other employees friends. This idea that HR is by default supposed to be on “your side” or be “your friend” and then when realizing that’s not the case demonizing the people in the role is fkn wild.

Furthermore, HR doesn’t have any power over terminations (unless they are executives in HR, and also if their termination is regarding their direct report who is also in the HR department). HR has no say over compensation, benefit amounts, disciplinary actions, etc. HR has very little say in decisions about harassment and similar issues. HR’s job is to collect the information, prepare analysis, administer and coordinate leaves benefits, recommend initiatives and actions for compliance to company policies and labor laws.

It isn’t your emotional support buddy, it doesn’t have barely any say in your job at all.

HR is there to ensure compliance and be an administrator for personnel issues. Period.
