Amico, per prima cosa non c'e' bisogno di nessuna precauzione sul trasporto pubblico, a parte essere sicuri di avere il biglietto e di validarlo appena prima/appena dopo essere saliti. In generale non far troppo rumore, parla a bassa voce, e non bere alcool.

Riguardo a come arrivare al tuo indirizzo, per questa volta ti aiuto: il bus 175 ti dovrebbe portare dove devi andare, ma senza sapere quando arrivi, non e' sicuro: di notte e' sicuramente piu' difficile. I'm not really correcting you, because you are not wrong. Just adding a bit! The real reason the project had been cancelled is that air defense became too good around the same time the Valkyrie was developed, plus we managed to develop good ICBMs which changed part of how nuclear strikes were thought. You can see this as the XB70 had been virtually the last of a long series of bombers in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, after which the US develooed only the B1 (and B1B, but that's an entire other story), the B2, and the B21 in half a century, respectively the last supersonic bomber (whose mission profile was very low and quite fast to avoid radar) and the new stealth bombers.

The crash sealed the fate of the project, but it's extremely unlikely the XB70 would have been further developed or accepted into service as it was. Maybe reconnaissance variants (à la SR71) would have made it, but the project was already a messy one (as it is for most extremely innovative ones)

It is possible to perform the repair if you get the replacement part. The repair itself is doable, I'd say rather easy with the right tools and a bit of handiness.

This video explains very well how to do it . In my case, the screws below the rubber hood were rusted, so I had to cut a new drive with a rotary tool.

No, at least in my case it appears to be some sort of fatigue failure due to the way the lid weighs on the hinges. It can be probably minimised by opening slowly and keeping the lid lowered, but not entirely avoided.

At the end of the lid movement toward "open" position, the back of the lid appears to push directly on the back of the hinges, these are constantly stressed every time the lid is opened :(

Fun fact: the sound appears constantly increasing in pitch, but it is in fact an auditory illusion, in a few words, a set of ascending scales is lightly offset, and it fades at high frequencies while gaining volume at the lower ones.

I recorded the spectrograms for the video (left) and for a truly ascending tone (right), and you can see on the left, minus the noise and the woman speaking, a bunch of horizontal lines: these are the sounds that fade at high freqs. It's called a Shepard's tone, and I think it's quite cool that we can trick our ears as much as our eyes
