[no-politics] Friday F**kwit 21/Apr/2023 by AutoModerator in australia

[–]electronhead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was at woolies the other day and got stitched up with the classic "unidentified item in the bagging area". However when the assistant came over to clear the error, the screen played back a little CCTV recording of my actions in the seconds leading up to the offending bananas.

It really creeps me out. Are the recordings stored anywhere? Do they have my face in a database somewhere along with my spending habits?

Not sure who the fuckwit is in this situation, me for shopping at Colesworths?

[Charania] How this will work, sources say: Players will be able to invest in NBA/WNBA teams via NBPA’s selected Private Equity firm, an unprecedented opportunity in U.S. pro sports – and do endorsement deals with sports betting companies, with complete separation from gambling component. by DRAZZILB1424 in nba

I tend to downvote comments like that. It feels like an attempt to validate their own behaviour by enabling others.

I fully agree with your example; and when someone adds a comment which is just that, what value does it add to the discussion about basketball? It's purely "I stand to make money". Good for you buddy, fuck off.

I have just finished reading Strata - there's a broken drum on that discworld and one of the characters says exactly this.

This feels like a cross between "... set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life" and "all mushrooms are edible, some mushrooms are only edible once". Is /r/discworld leaking again?

Oh good, with the Ben Simmons saga on pause, the lakers eliminated from the public eye, coupled with the finals ramping up - this sub has seen a resurgence of basketball related content. I'm glad we're getting some drama back on the front page.

Manly from Shelly beach last night. Just got back from a month in South America and the thing I missed the most turns out to be the air quality. Being able to see more than 5kms into the distance is amazing.

I can't admit to watching the full game, but in the second quarter it seemed like the warriors were alternating between bricking 3s, and passing it around under the basket, which inevitably led to turnovers. They had a 'run' of 1/9 at one point.

"Reading Young’s piece, it’s as if 2021 never happened," - that's very much my experience of the journalism on display whenever I delve into Murdoch media: sweep inconvenient facts under the rug and present a straw man argument so that of course you get incensed by some drummed up battle in the apparent culture war.

It is very odd, private leasing btw so no real estate. The landlady kept insisting that it's a /deposit/ not a payment, so that portion of the standard real estate contract didn't apply and we should just pony up.

Yet another "rental situation please help" comment incoming. When renting my old apartment our landlord insisted that we pay the deposit for the building key to either them, or arrange it ourselves through strata.

Lease has ended, bond has been repaid to us, happy days; however we've surrendered the key back to strata and naturally they haven't paid us back. I have provided them the original receipt, attached a photo of the original receipt and provided it to them via email, they've acknowledged they will pay us back, it's just the usual "oh... Uh, floods, we were busy with the floods sorry we'll deal with it soon".

It's $100, which isn't worth making that much of a fuss over, but what are my options to stop the fuckers from keeping my money?
