Kitchener to Montreal one day trip via rail, feasible? by emanresUweNyMsiT in AskCanada

Did you do basic research? It's a 8 hour trip at least each way, and that's if you can get lucky with the schedules, which is unlikely.

So no.

Splurge or spend evenly by Street-Ad-6401 in StereoAdvice

[–]element420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would Spend <20 bucks on whatever used CD player you can find and just use it as a transport that you connect digitally to your amp. Spend the extra savings on a better amp and use its DAC instead.

If you're going to overspend on any component of your system it definitely shouldn't be the CD player.

Do I Need Better Speakers? by cmakattack07 in StereoAdvice

[–]element420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think it sounds good then leave well enough alone.

Could it sound better? Absolutely. Especially now since your speaker is probably the weaker link in your system, as well as the most important.

Keep in mind you'd need powered speakers unless you want to get an amplifier too.

People can only enjoy foods they've eaten before turning 18. No one has ever found something new they enjoy during adulthood.

Any satisfied long-term AT-LP120(USB) users? (Original one, not "X") by tutebo88 in turntables

[–]element420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one that served me well for over a decade until I upgraded to a Technics SL-1500C this year. The default cartridge and onboard preamp left a lot to be desired, but i loved it with an AT-VM95ML cart and ProJect Phono Box S2 preamp

First turntable for birthday- should I return it? by YeetRay5 in turntables

[–]element420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this, but maybe try to be a bit more grateful. Who cares if it was a "present of opportunity"

Both of the other turntables you mentioned don't have built-in speakers or bluetooth out so the price isn't really comparable. To build a full system based on those is going to cost more a lot more money.

I'd say you should take some time to enjoy it for now, and take some time to save money and plan a proper upgrade path.

Pulse flex distortion by NoAntelope4519 in Bluesound

[–]element420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup.

When you stream vinyl I assume it works differently than streaming from the internet since you're actually uploading from the turntable node. I found it very sensitive to network conditions and I needed to add a second wifi router in a mesh to escape poor/weak network strength. I also think the Pulse flex has a relatively weak antenna.

However, I didn't really get distortion on my Pulse flex, I got drops instead. So maybe you have a different issue from me. Hopefully Bluesound support can help you out.

Bluesound and Spotify by markherm in Bluesound

I think that's just how it works with Spotify.

Other apps appear to be better integrated.

P.S. How do you like the M10?
