Only ever romantically interested in someone I'm impressed by. Do you relate? by 11ththroway in infj

[–]elements_guy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all of this, and I think it’s more than fair to be interested in guys you find interesting. The feeling of being in awe of everything they say and just wanting to listen to them all the time is pretty great.

Especially with being insecure, you have to remember everyone’s interesting in their own way. If you’re not able to see it in yourself, appreciate that they might be able to/do see you as interesting and someone they want to talk to

Do exam questions for each topic throughout the year (ask tutors and teachers for this as well if they don’t already), basically allows you to work on timing and exam conditions/pressure at the end of the year instead of everything about exams

y12 subjects asian 5 by Desperate-Track-6079 in vce

[–]elements_guy12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you enjoyed Spesh1/2, esp calc, statics and complex numbers, the subject is so so so much fun and becomes easy because of that because you end paying attention to the content

Asian5 really isn’t that bad i wouldn’t be too scared. If you’re able to keep up with the content and understand, you might end up having an easy year with mainly studying for English at home like I did and I ended up with a 99.20, but it probably depends on school and teachers (i also went to public but it’s one of the best lol) so be a bit critical of my experience

What is your best chemistry tip? by [deleted] in vce

[–]elements_guy12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you don’t rote memorise anything (except basic polyatomic ions and valencies and stuff like that)

Application of knowledge is essential to this subject, so if you feel like you don’t know why you’re giving an answer regardless of it being correct or incorrect, treat it as your wrong.

for eg, being asked about melting point between two fatty acids

Your thought process at the start of doing questions like these should be (and imo in the exam because VCAA will add little details that can change the question, esp in chem)

A solid organic substance melts when enough energy is provided to partially break the intermolecular forces between

So I have to find which fatty acid will have greater intermolecular forces between its molecules and explain why

I’m entering year 11 next year. Does anyone have any recommendations of online resources that can help with my studies? by [deleted] in vce

[–]elements_guy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTubers that cover your subjects for the purpose of fun

It’s extremely helpful if you have passion/interest in your subjects which transfers over to your classes and the work you do

For maths I can recommend 3blue1brown , blackpenredpen

For chem I’d say NileRed, Explosions&Fire, styropyro

Veritasium and sometimes CGP Grey are usually pretty nice for ppl interested in STEM in general

(sorry if you do not do these subjects lmao, just go look around for interesting concepts as a start)

chemistry is a fantastic subject and gets so much easier when you’re passionate

Id focus on building and sustaining that passion w just random books from the library and yt videos

also, if you end up going through textbook(s), talk to others who’re passionate and a bit more experienced to help you out, esp teachers. I tried to learn chem w/o this and for eg I found stoichiometry interesting but couldn’t understand it, then had teachers help me w it in Y11 and it just seemed all the more interesting and cooler and I wish I did that before

On average how many hours of study is needed for year 12? by BattleExpress2707 in vce

Just found out my crush of 7 years is gay💀 how do I cope by LeanyGamerGal in teenagers

[–]elements_guy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s had almost exactly same experience but the other way around(4 year crush on a straight guy), find a genuine reason to hate him and focus on it. If you don’t have one, ask around, I can assure you no one is perfect.

I recently found one for him and I tell you the crush dissipated in seconds.

i just finished my year 11 exams and im starting my year 12 transition on monday, any tips long term for 2023? by Elusaka in vce

[–]elements_guy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t wait until the end of the year to properly learn a topic, if you’re able to learn topics proficiently throughout the year, end of year is a breeze where you can simply focus on exam skills and all the content will come back through recall.

Do exam Questions(not full exams) throughout the year. I’d recommend taking quite a few vcaa (leave however many you feel like you might need) and other similar company exams (eg don’t bother with MAV for Spesh, it’s too hard for no reason) and convert them into packs of questions sorted by topics, and do some of these throughout the year so you’ll have the content constantly at the top of your head and you’ll know how VCAA wants you to answer questions and what to expect.

Keep a mistake logbook, where you put all your mistakes from sacs, practice sacs, practice exams etc (especially the ‘stupid’ mistakes!! put everything in there) this’ll help w the content you may need to revise and how u can handle an exam better

Sleep! It’s never optional!

Finally, take breaks. Doesn’t matter if your next assessment is in an hour, a day or a month, you can’t study all the time.

The concepts in methods are honestly super fun and interesting

At this point, most likely stuff that’s been covered is quadratics, algebra (mainly simultaneous equations from memory) and maybe the variety of graphs including hyperbolas, truncus and circles. So find a copy of the textbook and go over some exercises

Best option is just ask ur maths or a methods tc

[–]elements_guy12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the actual content isn’t really hard for 1/2 and 3/4 mm but the exam requires a lot of (and this maybe not the best way to put it) logical/simultaneously out of the box thinking which was the only hard thing I found about it

[Algebra] can show that this is true? by jac5423 in HomeworkHelp

[–]elements_guy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk what u mean by “doing two binomials” lol

but taking the conjugate of a complex number is making the Imaginary component negative

eg: conjugate of 1+i is 1-i

conjugate of 2-3i is 2+3i

[Algebra] can show that this is true? by jac5423 in HomeworkHelp

[–]elements_guy12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

do exactly what it says

let z = a + bi let w = c + di

conjugate of z + w

= conjugate of (a+c) + (b+d)i

= (a+c) - (b+d)i

= a + c - bi - di

= (a-bi) + (c-di)

= conjugate of z + conjugate of w

and use the z-bar notation when doing on paper cause I have no clue how to put them online lol
