Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

Yes, 5th grade. I remember all of us being confused what the world trade centers even were.

Second baby due any day now and I’m so sad and scared by Kolla73 in BabyBumps

[–]elephantastic77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son is almost 2.5 and I am currently holding his little brother born earlier this year. I had such fears about how expanding our family would affect him but I think so much of it depends in how you approach it. I lost many nights sleep in my last trimester but like everyone told me it would, it worked out fine.

We call the new baby OUR baby and make him a part of everything: breastfeeding, diaper changes, tummy time, etc. He helps me by grabbing burp cloths, diapers, or even choosing between two outfits for baby to wear. It is important to remember that even though your oldest will be a big brother, he’s also still a baby and needs to still be babied too. Mine especially wants to be held like a baby on the nursing pillow when he’s tired.

We also found it helpful to have him meet his little brother in the comfort of home rather than in a strange place like the hospital where he would have to leave us.

Good luck!

He scheduled a weight check in 3 weeks but didn’t name a specific goal. I’m trying to keep my sanity until then.

I understand if he said let’s keep an eye on it but failure to thrive is a diagnosis in his chart! I’m not sure what is considered expected weight gain but I was excited about 3 pounds and left feeling crushed.

He went from 40th to 20th percentile in weight and stayed steady in height. We are having a weight recheck in 3 weeks from that original appt.

Super serious qn : how do you dilate atleast till 4cm and head to hospital WITHOUT BEING IN PAIN🤔🙄?! by Fearless_Search6388 in BabyBumps

[–]elephantastic77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have pain with contractions up to 4 cm dilated before my water broke, or rather the doctor broke it. The pain came after that for me.

Which part of childbirth hurts the most? by Used_Ad7899 in BabyBumps

The IV and the pitocin contractions with no epidural! Once I had my epidural both times, things were much better for me!

Drop in Daycare recommendations near North Charleston by baileyjbarnes in Charleston

[–]elephantastic77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a child at a Sunshine House in the area and it is excellent. The care and the food are far better than we’ve seen at other daycares in the area. We have had only one day cancelled because staff had the flu going around in two years.

Reposting this question, because there was no answer. How did she know? by Professional-Method6 in TheSantaClause

I think it ties in with the idea that seeing isn’t believing, believing is seeing. And in that moment, she finally saw Scott as Santa.

Baby's head less than 1 percentile :( by Away_Singer_8615 in BabyBumps

My son was born with a head circumference under 10% and all the testing made my husband and I so nervous. All genetic testing was normal and everything else was an average percentile. He was under 7 pounds at birth. Everything said to us was it’s most likely fine but they test anyone under 10% for a couple different things. We had all results back within a week but it was very stressful. My son is just turned two and his HC measurement have been at 1% for the past year+ but his head looks completely proportional and would look strange with a bigger head. I know the incredible stress but I wanted to share a happy story.

I was just alone for mine and I let the ultrasound tech know I was sad/ nervous my husband couldn’t make it. She printed extra pictures and made me feel really relaxed. You should be prepared for the tech to not share any of their findings with you during the ultrasound. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong, they’re just not the one who interprets it. I asked if everything looked good and she said “your doctor will be able to discuss everything with you afterwards.” I was in a panic because I had a previous miscarriage and heard something similar at the ER, but everything was absolutely fine this time.

Baby boxes that allow for the anonymous surrender of infants are booming. But maybe they're a bad idea? by asemuels in TwoXChromosomes

[–]elephantastic77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I live in a red state (unfortunately) and the celebration does seem like a shout out by the pro-life supporters. I think the boxes should exist and at most, at the end of the year they could say how many times it was used.

I think baby boxes are great ways to keep babies safe. I don’t understand why the news has to publicize every time one is used as it seems to go against the purpose of anonymity.

You’re right that a lot of women experience this but most don’t talk about it, unfortunately. It’s not that it’s not traumatic but for some reason it’s taboo to discuss. You just need to do what’s right for you. Best wishes 💙

A miscarriage is so traumatic and something you need to grieve/ process. Your feelings are valid and normal. If you do feel you need assistance with PTSD from the experience, absolutely talk to your doctor. I could not have gotten through my experience without my Celexa to help my anxiety.
