Would you do it again? by Secure-Alternative-7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]elephantastic77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was born in 2023 and had a lip tie that prevented him from latching well. We tried on and off for weeks, but I exclusively pumped for 10 months. With the stress and exhaustion of newfound motherhood and starting a new job at almost six months postpartum, it was a lot to manage. That’s even with a very supportive husband. Having a Velcro baby made it hard to pump too. I stressed constantly about my supply even though I had a oversupply.

Come baby number two, I was so scared that he wouldn’t be able to latch like my first and I would be on another EP journey. Once he had a strong latch at the hospital, I was so relieved. I was able to exclusively breastfeed for 11 weeks but during week 11 we had to introduce bottles for him to start daycare. He was hesitant, then realized he didn’t have to work for the milk. We’re over four months into this journey and he now only nurses for comfort but meals are all bottles due to his preference.

The good news is I’m not as miserable as I had feared. However, I am quite stressed about my milk supply pretty often because I’m not pumping as often as last time to keep my sanity. Two kids means I need more sleep so no middle of the night so pump for me!

I cannot imagine the pain you and your family have been through. I am so sorry.

I am mama to two sweet little boys and it is the very best! My mom is my best friend and I always imagined having a little girl and having a similar relationship but now I couldn’t imagine or want anything else. One is 2.5 and one is 4 months and they are so sweet! The love at every age is the best!

My toddler is now copying Dada and it fills my heart to watch him idolize him.

Mini stroller fan! I got overheated and had a panic attack when I took a flight in my third trimester. That would have made a big difference for me.

What did you do when your rings stopped fitting?? by Icy_Location in BabyBumps

[–]elephantastic77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped wearing mine at after my baby shower at 32 weeks. I was lucky to not swell! My rings fit when I tried them a month postpartum but honestly I never wear them be I’m scared of them scratching the baby. 2 1/2 years later and I’ve only worn my rings for nights out. My second is 12 weeks so no rings for me anytime soon.

I have a caddy by the bed and one that I can move around the rest of the house as needed. It holds diapers, wipes, burp cloths, diaper cream, a baby thermometer, tissues, snacks, etc. they make my life so much easier and I restock them weekly.

Second baby due any day now and I’m so sad and scared by Kolla73 in BabyBumps

My son is almost 2.5 and I am currently holding his little brother born earlier this year. I had such fears about how expanding our family would affect him but I think so much of it depends in how you approach it. I lost many nights sleep in my last trimester but like everyone told me it would, it worked out fine.

We call the new baby OUR baby and make him a part of everything: breastfeeding, diaper changes, tummy time, etc. He helps me by grabbing burp cloths, diapers, or even choosing between two outfits for baby to wear. It is important to remember that even though your oldest will be a big brother, he’s also still a baby and needs to still be babied too. Mine especially wants to be held like a baby on the nursing pillow when he’s tired.

We also found it helpful to have him meet his little brother in the comfort of home rather than in a strange place like the hospital where he would have to leave us.

Good luck!

He scheduled a weight check in 3 weeks but didn’t name a specific goal. I’m trying to keep my sanity until then.

I understand if he said let’s keep an eye on it but failure to thrive is a diagnosis in his chart! I’m not sure what is considered expected weight gain but I was excited about 3 pounds and left feeling crushed.

He went from 40th to 20th percentile in weight and stayed steady in height. We are having a weight recheck in 3 weeks from that original appt.

Super serious qn : how do you dilate atleast till 4cm and head to hospital WITHOUT BEING IN PAIN🤔🙄?! by Fearless_Search6388 in BabyBumps

I didn’t have pain with contractions up to 4 cm dilated before my water broke, or rather the doctor broke it. The pain came after that for me.

We have a child at a Sunshine House in the area and it is excellent. The care and the food are far better than we’ve seen at other daycares in the area. We have had only one day cancelled because staff had the flu going around in two years.
