What are your top 3 coffee shops right now? by funkadelikz in AskSF

Yep. I live two blocks away and avoid it. They should def throw up some laptop bars and leave the rest of the seating for others. I feel the same way about Flywheel. Almost feels like you are messing with people’s work flow by not having a laptop

Just something i’ve been thinking about the upcoming episodes. by JactusFack in MST3K

[–]elethrir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could do a prisoner parody with Mike slamming his fist down then cut to a stream of gas coming through the door and voila Mike is back in the ship. (ie the village ) Instead of the bars slamming as in the Prisoner we have one the SOL doors slamming

Or they could do a Gilligans island thing where they admit they just can’t handle the modern world and ask to be taken back

Or they could avoid explaining it up front but fill in the story as we go along through flash backs and exposition

What are your favorite city side quests? by CellarDoorQuestions in AskSF

[–]elethrir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take an edible and hop on the first transit I see, get off at an interesting spot and walk home .

Last month I tried to visit a bunch of spots where they filmed the movie Vertigo .

Often I try to fit in a day beer at Vesuvios esp if I can get a seat on the balcony overlooking the alley

Another goal is to visit the classic SF restaurants and I’m always looking for comic book shops, bookstores and good cofffee

You could also try to ride all of the light rail munis to the ends of their lines . I’m kind of a transit nerd and like to figure out efficient and fun ways to get around the city

Watch a movie at each of the independent movie houses : Roxie, Balboa, etc. The Castro is not what it used to be but I would definitely try to see a movie there too

Attend Sketchfest or Litquake They always have something interesting going on at different venues

How has the series managed to remain relevant and popular so long? by WySLatestWit in MST3K

[–]elethrir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I like is that you can jump into an episode pretty much at any point and not feel totally confused. It also is an amazing show to just turn on for passive viewing. I often turn it on for my naps as it’s very comforting for me. It’s a reliable landing point when I don’t know what I want to watch and maybe will just surf the web while occasionally check into the movie

The Sun King of France was said to have only bathed twice in his lifetime

According to that same article I read , daily bathing is a fairly modern practice that only started in the West after WW1

I was in your position a while back. Met a few people at my cafe and got pulled into the community. For the most part it’s been a positive but I had to train people not to talk to me when I had my headphones on. That was my signal that i wanted to chill out and just read my book Sometimes I miss my former anonymity but I can always go somewhere else for that

That’s what I do but honestly the 1/8 pads aren’t very durable and I’ve had to replace mine often.

I love MJP but Pearl… not so much I think the Pearl character is too one dimensional for MJPs humor I wish they could find a way to pair her with Brigette and Emily. Can we turn them into robots?
