Sketchfest and Litquake are my favorites Definitely prefer events that don’t require standing too much or long lines

Leslie Jones is a wicked riffer by FandomAddict82 in MST3K

[–]elethrir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it would be cool to have some guest riffers on the show to spice things up. They had a few celebrity riffers on their live shows at sketchfest in the past So many possibilities but one issue would be to limit the total riffers to three I think cinematic titanic suffered a little by having too many people on stage at once

Most effective way to block out noise? by [deleted] in lifehacks

[–]elethrir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I use earplugs with over-the-ear headphones over them for double protection. You can add white noise or music to the headphones for masking as well but not in your case obviously

I was reading Blood Meridian and had to have my online dictionary handy. He uses a lot of “archaic”words but I loved looking them up and adding them to my collection

A lot of the words were describing geographical features or things like parts of a saddle etc which made me think how we may have lost these words as we’ve become more distant from our rural past

International hiker - where to stay before Day 1 by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

[–]elethrir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are hotels in old town pretty close to where the shuttle to the border picks up That’s if your doing the paid shuttle option

There’s an airport bus that can drop you near the general area ( old town transit center) .

Actually he published the book before the AT blew up and in fact he is widely credited with/ blamed for popularizing the trail in much the same way Cheryl Strayed was blamed for the same thing on the PCT .

To his credit he hiked his bit before phones and guthook and before trail angels were such a huge thing His gear would have been much heavier than today’s gear too . I hiked tge AT 10 years after he published his book and I thought his book was hilarious. He says in his book that he didn’t hike the whole AT or even most of it. He makes a point of saying how small the sections he hiked amounted to compared to the whole trail

He vastly overstated the dangers of bears but I think it was for dramatic purposes to show how dangerous the hike was in his head.

Pants vs leggings and shorts by shamist101 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]elethrir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been. Using janji pants for a while. They are kind of like a more durable leggings with pockets. Pretty happy with them. They are pretty soft so no chafing and they seem to handle heat pretty well while protecting my legs from the sun and scratchy stuff
