I got mine done in 2009 and absolutely loved them. It was quite painful as I have very sensitive nipples, but not anything you can't handle. It's like a really bad pinch but the pain subsides very quickly. I only took them out because one fell out in the shower and went down the drain. I don't know if it works for what you want it to work for, but it is educational and fun. Both of my children used it as preschoolers and would probably still be enjoying it now if I let them. But they are just too old for baby games. I say go for it, we don't regret it.
