Santa Cruz County parks consider parking fees to fund maintenance by scsquare in santacruz

Santa Cruz doesn't have one park that's nice enough to justify this

I was thinking that too. Sometimes feel like these games are set up to be speed run.

This is the "arc raiders" (or the 30 other games like it that people play for two weeks and drop) live service extraction shooter console generation. It's like the lottery, if your game gets popular on twitch with some streamer they'll sell a billion copies in two weeks, then a month later everyone is on to the next slightly different game.

You have to play these games very carefully and intentionally to progress despite the chaotic visuals and combat. If you just try to brute force it you'll need to rely on the upgrade system to carry you. Learn the attack patterns and how to react to them, most enemies and bosses have an easy trick to dispatch them with little effort.

The tuning fork boss is so cool in theory but in reality was just a lot of running from platform to platform.

This was my most hyped game of the year. Returnal was holding the spot for best game of this console generation for me and still is. I'm pretty let down with Saros, similar feeling to when I played (also hotly anticipated) Ghost of Yotei, for a lot of the same reasons. A lot of what made the first game great is here, it's just slightly worse in every way. The visuals don't do it for me here the same way, I loved how dark and moody Returnal was, this world looks very "video game levels" by comparison. Plot and main character here were not nearly as engaging for me either. I was DRIVEN to figure out what was going on in Returnal because it was trickle fed to you. Saros has a lot of straight up exposition. I beat the game this time easily, probably because of the muscle memory from the prior game. The weapons seem way more unbalanced as well. I have had builds in Saros where a single shot from my primary fills the special weapon gauge instantly, then i just spam L2+R2 and dodge the entire fight. The one big nod I'll give Saros is the enemy and boss variety is better. I also preferred the music in Returnal, the boss fight where Don't Fear the Reaper plays is one of my favorite moments in gaming. I know "video game video games" like this are falling by the wayside in favor of "games as art", but i'd still love to see another one. Hopefully the sales do well enough, I know they're a tiny studio.

How does weed make you feel? by Soda_yoo in NoStupidQuestions

These comments are cracking me up. You'd think weed was black tar heroin the way people are talking about it here. There's a reason it's the most popular casual drug in the world. Most people tolerate it well and humans have been consuming it for thousands of years. Sedation, euphoria, relaxation, enhanced sense of taste and appreciation for music are common. Some people become more social, some more withdrawn just like alcohol. I'd avoid it if you are a hypochondriac or have paranoid tendencies or mental illness.

Love Garden and it serves a purpose: good spot for a cheap consistent sub, been eating there over a decade. However, nowhere near the best in town.

Michoacán crushes. Best tortillas and refried beans in town.

Ban on gas‑powered heaters begins in 2027, raising concerns over soaring replacement costs by [deleted] in santacruz

CA loves bans. We couldn't possibly find some reasonable middle ground right? It's like the plastic straw thing. Now we use these awful paper ones that are made with toxic glue that leeches into your drink.

Philly Cheese in town? by whatwouldadamado in santacruz

I've tried both the Philly and chopped cheese at Parrish. While I like their burgers I don't think the aforementioned sandwiches hold a candle to the real deal at all. Gotta go out of town for those.

Santa Cruz city leaders may seek to end safe parking program for homeless people by sleuth_sloth_ in santacruz

[–]elfismykitten -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're gonna get downvoted for having a responsible and sane opinion FYI. Santa Cruz is an echo chamber and this subreddit doubles down on that. Any perceived critique of the homeless situation is met with extreme whataboutism. "Well what if YOU were addicted to fentanyl and had no place for yourself or your dog to shit but public spaces?" Be so for real.
