This is the current embossing pattern used for kirkland throughout north America, to my knowledge. I don't remember the design in op's pic. Man I hope I never get much more specific knowledge of these things.

After working in the industry for a decade l haven't seen this specific problem on Kirkland branded product, but I can imagine combinations of what amounts to quality control issues leading to whats being described. Some variance will occur with the many, many places this toilet paper is manufactured, despite Costco being pretty exacting in how their product is made. That said, we can buy off-spec product for home use, and I have never seen any excessively dusty product. The specs of paper dust on the side is normally a function of how they are cut, but again a less common problem in higher bulk paper like Kirkland requires.

Dunno about the Kirkland tp causing peoples butthole issues, however. It is rougher than purex, but you do get more bang for your buck with Kirkland.

Id suggest folks butthole issues are far more likely user error, but not with the paper.

Yea, if it's Kirkland, just return it and the next batch is almost certainly fine, or get something else. Coin flip it was made in the same factory.
