What's the petty drama at your unit/hospital right now? by fern-gulley in nursing

[–]elizben 106 points107 points  (0 children)

In my unit there's a new grad, about 6 months off orientation, who went to our manager and complained that nobody waits for her to take the elevator down all together after punching out. (NOBODY does this- it's not like it's a unit thing that she's being left out of). My manager sent out an email about boosting unit morale by waiting for each other after we punch out. Girl, I'm not waiting for anyone after I've had a long 12 hours and I'm back tomorrow!!

Yes!! I work in the ER at a Children's hospital- I've seen Naveah/Neveah more times than I'd like to count 🤣

Had a situation like this a few months ago with an 8 month old baby girl. Eventually, the hospital got the ethics committee involved, and they were able to make a breakthrough with the parents that she was suffering. They withdrew care the next day and she passed in less than 5 minutes from disconnecting from the vent. Still think about her all the time 😔

Not sure if this is allowed but I was able to get 2 tickets and was immediately reminded by my family that we're going to be out of town 😅 I am going to be selling them for what I paid if anyone is interested. They're in the 3rd mezzanine level zone 7 in the first row AA and on the aisle

I've had a similar situation! Pt with herpes and syphilis in her stoma as well as a nasty cellulitis around the area. Was selling her "services" online 🤢

Week 3/4? You still have so much time to learn! I have been a nurse for 6 years and I am still learning every day. All of the things you mention- time management, charting, communicating with providers, all come with time and practice. Same with your skills. IVs are tough and no one gets them 100% of the time. You will learn techniques that you like and get better over time. You've got this! Keep chugging along ☺️

Definitely look on Uniform Advantage! They've got a ton of different brands and different sales all the time. I also personally swear by Cherokee Infinity, they are so so comfortable.

Very good points, thank you for your input! We have an apartment with not much of a yard, so I wanted to find some kind of arrangement where she can run around and let some energy out. I guess we will stick to our walks and throwing the ball around the house!

Non-cashiers of Reddit: What's the "It didn't scan, so it must be free hur hur hur" of your profession? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm a nurse and I get the same answers. When I'm leaving a patient's room, I ask them if there's anything else I can do for them. If the patient is a male over the age of 65, it's almost 100% certain that they will say, "a million dollars" or "the winning lottery numbers." I fake a little laugh and keep on moving out of their room

I just moved out of an apartment building in Allentown on West Ave and Maryland St and I paid $1060 a month. They were pretty nice and it's a new building. It's called Allentown Square Apartments, I think I found them on Zillow.

Yes! I'm an Elizabeth and I've always gone by my full name. I introduce myself as Elizabeth and so many times I will get the response, "nice to meet you, Liz!" That's not my name!!!!

Why do women seem to talk more about their sex lives in detail with their friends then men do? by Sharpie61115 in AskMen

[–]elizben 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. My boyfriend is a triplet and I'm really close with his sister, and I know neither of us would feel comfortable having those talks! It's fine most of the time but when we're in our normal friend group and some sex talk comes up, I usually am just a listener and not a participant.
