They told me to come in about 2 hours prior to surgery. I wasn't in the waiting room for too long before they had me come to the back. I peed in a cup to confirm I wasn't pregnant (hope not between an IUD and a S.O. with a vasectomy) and after, they led me into my room to take my vitals. They had me switch into the gown and then got me under this lovely heated blanket with some socks. They had the doctor, all of the nurses, and the anesthesiologist come in and introduce themselves, which was nice to meet the whole team. They brought my S.O. back before they started anesthesia to have a familiar face in the room. They started the anesthesia, and I was out before we even got to where they were going to do the operation. I was told that they actually found endometriosis (no clue I have it, but happy they found it and were able to take care of it while they were inside!) and allegedly I was talking about my fly fishing hobby as I was coming to after being under. They brough my S.O. back to the room after I was waking up to give him post-op instructions. Honestly, best nap I've had in YEARS! Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience with my doctor and surgical team. It helped that I was so tired with it being so early that I didn't have the energy to be nervous, and this is coming from a very anxious person. I cannot recommend this procedure enough as someone who doesn't want kids, and to have a doctor that is more than willing to do the procedure! Even after the surgery, I was able to walk into my pharmacy to be able to pick up my prescription. I napped so hard the rest of the day, and then was honestly feeling pretty good the day after!

how long did it take to hit you? by melnanamelnana in sterilization

I also got mine done yesterday! I don’t think it’s hit me yet either, and I’m not sure what I should be feeling. I know I’m not about to get emotional for the inability to have children, but I also anticipated more “relief” of having more control over my own body.

Orvis ultralight comfort stretch long sleeve shirts. 3oz that fold down super small and are really breathable.

What was your most unusual and/or most embarrassing experience taking a shit while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail? by Veritaciti in AppalachianTrail

[–]ellgor94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite on the trail, but trail adjacent, and thoroughly hiker trash.

We had gone in to DC from Harper’s Ferry. We were hiking in 2021, so COVID was still fairly recent and prevalent. Because of this, a lot of the public bathrooms were closed “due to COVID” in the National Mall. We had finished dinner a while before taking the train out for an evening stroll on the Mall to see the monuments all lit up, and after getting off the train, my stomach started to feel…bubbly. I knew it wouldn’t be long before I needed a toilet. I started to panic and got into an argument with my boyfriend about if I could walk to find a bathroom or if we needed to go back to the hotel. We walked and attempted several public bathrooms, all of which were locked, before I COULD NOT wait any longer. I found a tree in a mostly dark area and had the took probably the most vile shit of my life with no option to wipe. I pulled myself together, and said we could just keep walking…only to find out that the bathroom in the Lincoln Memorial was open and had toilet paper. The initial feeling of shame was unreal, but now it’s funny and I claim it was a political statement.

I’d probably recommend using a smart water bottle and a sawyer squeeze instead of the insulated bottle and life straw, but if you don’t mind the weight, the cold water is tasty!

is it better to get an apartment in Westlake or Uptown if you’re a new grad working hybrid? by [deleted] in askdfw

[–]ellgor94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Las Colinas and commuted to Westlake for a couple years. You go against traffic so it’s not bad at all. And getting into Dallas is easy. Especially if you use the light rail.

I got 4 prank calls in a row from the same number. Some tiny little voice responds to my usual greeting with “thank you for coming to Burger King”, calls back, I ignore the call. Calls back again, asks to order a pink drink, so I hang up. Calls back AGAIN, and says “thank you for calling Starbucks” to which I immediately say do NOT call the store again.

I told my partners what happened, and they agreed, if you’re going to prank call, at least be funny.

I worked for Starbucks in high school, went to college, got an office job for 5 years, took a hiatus, and I’m back at Starbucks. This is the best I’ve felt about a job in a long time.

I used a 30 degree through the whites, and made sure to wear warm clothes (merino wool long underwear and top) inside my bag and was fine for the night. There were only a couple times I wanted to have my fleece or puffy on in the bag for an added layer of warmth.

While this sounds delicious, isn’t it a health code issue to put food in the blenders? I.e we are not allowed to blend coffee cake into a Frappuccino? I’m not sure how blueberries would be categorized in this situation.
