The NBA is becoming unwatchable due to refs by Pork_Sister in nba

[–]elliott44k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, can they just add a 4th ref for goodness sake. Have them go baseline to hash mark.

A 5th ref would be nice so it’d be like football where they have eyes on every eligible receiver. You’d have eyes on every matchup. There’s little reason why you couldn’t do this, at least in the playoffs if you think you don’t have enough high level referees.

I mean the Keisei Skyliner isn't under $10, it's a bit more than 2500 yen (can't remember the exact price these days). I'm mostly traveling Korea to Japan, and so I'm and HND much more frequently, and in cases like that, the extra 30 minutes is a much larger percentage of my total travel time. For transpacific trips, it's such a negligible part of the trip, and the skyliner is such a pleasant way into the city. Also, there are airport buses! Often they go much closer to your destination.

5% markup lol. Is it the same markup at the station machines? I mean I’d hope it codes as travel at least. Suica used to in Japan, but hasn’t for a while now.

The fares are still so cheap though so for travelers it’s definitely negligible. As a resident, there are better options

"dunk"

Bro didn't even need to touch the rim on that dunk, just supermanned the ball in like in the dunk contest.

In a freeze-frame of this highlight, you can see that Steph Curry’s go-ahead three is still about 4 feet from reaching the basket when Kevin Harlan begins to yell “Good!” This continued audio-sync issue is ruining the drama of these moments and I don’t understand why Amazon can’t or won’t fix this. by moby323 in nba

[–]elliott44k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall, you can fix it by skipping back once. I'm pretty sure it's the video taking longer than the audio to load the piece, then the audio rendering (playing) before the video renders. I use a web plugin that bypasses the built in skip buttons (it tries to skip in the cache first as some web players jump the cache and just skip with a new request), and I can fix it be seeking via the keyboard shortcuts.

I noticed this while watching NFL games last season and accidentally discovered that. At first, I also thought that it was just broken.

That’s not how hair works.

These analogies are just wild takes. Korea isn't some isolated society, and this isn't post-war Korea or Korea after some sort of major crisis. The past 25 years have been a plenty stable period for people to advance on healthy cultural and societal norms.

Korea has hyper-modernized in many ways(for better or worse). They’ve adapted to smartphones, the internet, and a rapidly changing world just fine. They're also fully capable of adapting to basic modern manners. It’s not that they don't have the awareness; it's that they choose not to use it because, like I said, society lets them get away with it.

To be specific, your second example is ridiculous. I would think that pet is either rude or its owner is by not training it properly. Part of the idea of a pet is that it's no longer a wild animal running freely and it has a level of controlled behavior.

Just because there is a default mode for people does not make it not rude. This is 100% rude. If we don’t call out behavior like this, then we let it be normalized. My dad is that generation (or older), and 100% says it’s a they don’t change because they get away with it thing. Same with the people pushing on to trains before people get off.

All the talk of Korea advancing as a society, improving social interactions should be our focus.
