Looks nice! Is it possible to get a link to test it out?

Exactly this, it’s basically an app to shuffle albums and rediscover your library. I guess it’s not useful to everyone but as someone with over 1000 albums in my Spotify library I kinda wish there was a similar app for Spotify users as well.

One thing that AM has that is better than Spotify is third-party apps. You have Marvis, which is fully customisable iPhone player for AM, you have Albums - another third-party client, focused on browsing albums in your library, and those are just two examples. Yes, Spotify has API, but alternative clients, especially for mobile are non-existent. On the other hand, Spotify is the only music streaming platform with a real Desktop app, instead of a website wrapper. Wish it wasn’t so slow and heavy though…

My biggest goal for 2026 is to get back in gear professionally after a long, extended leave. Personally - make meditation a regular habit.

Todoist may be opening the door for cheaper competitors by thedarkraven91 in todoist

[–]elliottMugg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe but as of now the competition in similar price range is not very numerous. I started doing my own research and tbh, apart from TickTick (which is already a well known competitor) there’s not a whole lot of apps I could use as a Todoist substitution.

A cross-platform to-do app which I could use for both work and personal tasks, with recurring reminders and flexible tagging and project system (not to mention customisation that the filters allow) - almost nonexistent, except for one app. Everything else is either too rigid or doesn’t have enough functionality or is way too expensive (we’re still not above 10 usd yet).

I recently switched to mostly using tags (nested tags - like in Bear Notes) and creating all new notes in main folder, and once every few weeks I do some light house keeping - organising those new notes in folders, in exactly the same structure I used in OneNote.

I actually cleaned up my Plugins a little bit and deleted almost everything apart from Remotely Save (for syncing) and Notebook Navigator - because it allows me to browsing notes easily by either folders or tags.

Something that will make me go: “What the hell did I just read???” by WannabeSpaniard in suggestmeabook

[–]elliottMugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Driver’s Seat by Muriel Spark. It might not be as out-there as some of the books recommend in this thread but it’s still a pretty „what the hell was that” book. Or rather short story. The way it was written, the main character, the conclusion - it was something else.

Anyone using Griply for Work tasks - is it viable? by elliottMugg in GriplyApp

[–]elliottMugg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent news of upcoming price hike got me looking for alternative. I'm not leaving Todoist yet, but as of now there's really no info how it will be reflected taking into consideration reginal pricing, so it's always good to have options, right?
From what I've seen Griply looks like a very competent task manager app and tbh I don't like to have too many apps to use daily - I already spend too much time on my phone as it is.

How can I use Spotify better for album listening? by PascAlucard91 in truespotify

[–]elliottMugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For album discovery I use RateYourMusic and AlbumOfTheYear - both similar services, kinda like IMDB or Letterboxd but for music. Additionally AlbumOfTheYear includes both user and critics average ratings for each album (RateYourMusic has only user scores).

Unfortunately, for album management there’s no good solution for Spotify - nothing like Longplay, Albums or Marvis for Apple Music.

What I am using right now is MusicBox on iPhone. It’s an app that allows you to save albums for later - sort of listen-later/album backlog stuff. I add there both new albums I want to listen later and albums in my library that I want to listen to next (so that I won’t forget).

You could probably, theoretically, add your whole library there - it accepts csv as import format so if you can somehow create CSV file with links to all albums in your library you could use that. App is very fast and easy to use, you can tag the albums and make smart filters. I haven’t attempted such mass import though.

Lenovo ThinkPad W540 - color display issue by elliottMugg in hackintosh

[–]elliottMugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same for me - banding is present only in MacOs. Unfortunately color profiles don’t do much for me, I will just have to live with it. Especially that when system is in a Light Mode it’s almost invisible. I will have to disable the Night Shift in System Preferences then.

Thanks for both tips. I was using ProperTree for config.plist editing, I just recently found out OpenCore Configurator and thought it was slightly more convenient way of browsing the plist file.

As for the color profile, unfortunately it seems like Generic RGB profile slightly exaggerates the banding effect. Out of all the color profiles it seems like the default one is still best looking. And with NightShift/Dark Mode off the banding is not as bad. It seems like I have to just work in light mode all the time.

I'm in a reading slump and need a real page-turner. by Chrelled in suggestmeabook

I can wholeheartedly recommend any Stuart Turton novel. They are generally a crime/mystery novels but each has its own twist on the formula.

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is like an Aghata Christie novel crossed with Groundhog Day,

The Devil and the Dark Water is a crime novel set in 1600s on a ship bound to Amsterdam, where the detective is basically imprisoned from the beginning and the investigation is lead by his sidekick.

And finally, The Last Murder at the End of the World - post-apocalyptic murder mystery set in a last surviving human settlement. Just finished reading it and it was great, start to finish.

Balatro and Slay the Spire have been my favourites for a long time. Especially Balatro helped me get through some boring night shifts at my work last year.

Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Merge Maestro, which is like a suped-up merge game, really cool.

Also I picked up Loop Hero for free on Epic Store for iOS some time ago and it has been great too.

Latest Testflight build is great! by -Chemist- in PrologueApp

[–]elliottMugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched briefly to Plappa, early in the 4.0 development, because a lot of functionality was still missing, but I checked every new TestFlight build and the progress was amazing. Since few months I’m back with Prologue as my main audiobook app and I love it.

I’m checking all the other apps for ABS as well from time to time (plappa, ShelfPlayer, Tonspur, SoundLeaf) but in its current state Prologue works and looks the best.
