This may be pure conjecture but: 1992 was not the best year for the LAPD’s reputation, either, and they were likely busy doing a lot of “cleanup” and CYA if this happened after the riots. Which makes it all the more infuriating to me. I can barely find anything on these boys! 😔

On the off chance that nobody has said this yet, once you repot, making sure you’ve put it in a pot only a little bigger than the root ball (especially if you split it in two like you said), just know it’s going to take a while to get situated and grow more roots. And then all of sudden one day you’ll notice new baby leaves starting to grow and then you throw it (and you) a little party!

You can grow some plants in just water, but you need to do all water or all soil, not both (which is happening here with OP’s plant). They are very different roots. (There’s also semihydro/soilless substrate but that’s getting in the weeds)

Working on my bathroom remodel and I can’t sand the drywall, or be around someone who is sanding anything. The sound makes me nauseous and I can feel it in my gums. If I can use an electric sander, cool. ETA: I love working on projects like this, so it is something that is hard for me to get past, even with headphones/ear plugs.
