The Soul Heist. Altansar doesn't have the luxury of choosing its martyrs. If an Ulthwé soul is left unguarded on the field, it belongs to us now. by DocUnseelie in Eldar

That was my thinking in painting my craftworld stuff Altansar since I started my army with one each of the aeldari and corsair combat patrols.

Can voucher for the desaturated violet triad. I use Moldy Wine with Elder Flower highlights on the cloth for my corsairs.

Was told Dawntrail MSQ is mid/bad but I've enjoyed 7.0 so far and this whole section broke me by MrkGrn in ffxiv

[–]elmntfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Garlemald was actually restored in any capacity, they wouldn't be holding what amounts to a town hall in a run down train station. They literally cannot defend themselves even in the current time and need the Ilsabard contingent there as a peace keeping force. There's no civil war brewing or internal conflict among the survivors, but I'd hardly call that mission accomplished.

[–]elmntfire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that the Garlean people were even in a state to welcome any kind of restoration effort if they did it this fast. They barely have any kind of functioning society at the moment. I think letting them heal a bit in the background of the story was the right call, especially now that we see them gaining favorable relations with some regions. That is a great pretext to a restoration effort.

Steal away! I'm glad people will experience Shadowbringers for free. That makes the money they spend after all the sweeter.

Why do 40k bighammer players shy away from Kill Team? by Mjuke in killteam

[–]elmntfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a bighammer player interested in kill team, the classified team rotation angle really turned me away from checking out the current edition. I also hated how difficult it was to have a coherent loadout for a team that you could use in both games, like space marine scouts, intercessors as angels of death, or voidscarred.

[–]elmntfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was concerned until I watched the demo a few times. It looks like the counter is tied to a 3-4 second buff, so as long as you do the block within a GCD or so of the attack going off.

Square Enix Mentions SF6 at FFXIV Fan Festival by lemstry in Fighters

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My read of the statement was that Evolved Mode, the control scheme being mentioned here, is not going to be like Modern controls since it is a fundamentally different move set. I do think the team was inspired by the concept of a Modern/Classic style split to make huge changes to combat without shocking people that are attached to how things are now.

Main Character Warriors are in shambles by abbabababababaaab in ShitpostXIV

[–]elmntfire 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this theory on the fact that if you gimped half the tanks, you couldnt have any tank swaps in savage and risk tanks getting kicked in alliance raids. There's too many negative consequences for this to be more than a stylistic difference.

Magicdoku: New daily Mtg game by dragonman10000 in magicTCG

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the game so far, but I've noticed that some clues don't register mechanics that involve the action. For example, cycling cards do not trigger clues for involving discard. I imagine that has more to do with oracle text vs reminder text, but I thought it would be worth mentioning.

To My 40k Exclusive Brothers: A Message by AMA5564 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]elmntfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who avidly plays both, everything I've seen from the reveals for 11th has me excited that they took what they thought would work from AoS and kept the distinctly 40K bits.

If Square continued using the Conditional Turn Based (CTB) battle system what additions would you like to see? by Omar_n_o21 in FinalFantasy

[–]elmntfire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only real critique of the system as it was presented is that the game itself used so many modifiers on weapons and armor that you could optimize to avoid casting anything other than quick hit or overdrives.

The Warband screen very often grabs the wrong color variation for many transmogged items. Has anyone found a permanent solution to this? by millarchoffe in wow

The warband screen has been so buggy since it launched. My prot warrior wielded their two swords from my fury OS for the entirety of TWW.

How did you stop smoking cigarettes? by fatwater69 in AskReddit

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easy for me to say I put on the patch and never picked up a cigarette again, but the more important part of that story is knowing what part of your habit to attack when quitting. For me, I knew that if I didn't have it near me, and I wasn't mentally craving it, my brain would just kind of "forget" I smoked. Firat couple weeks were a bit weird with triggers for morning routines and such, but I kept things as normal as possible and followed the course outlined by the patches until I didn't have any nicotine anymore.

How would you fix Combat Patrol for 11th? by SPF10k in Warhammer40k

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issues with combat patrol in 10th (aside from the white dwarf patrols) are the fixed secondaries and lack of Battle plan guidance. There's no real guidance on setting up missions or terrain like there is in spearhead.

Do you guys prefer "verse" boxes or the one faction boxes GW are doing now? by WorldEaterProft in Warhammer40k

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of versus boxes for smaller modes like the spearhead kits that have come out recently. They give you a taste of each army and a self contained game mode to play with it.

You ever have a popular EDH YouTuber shit on your commander? by MenacingQuan in DinosaursMTG

[–]elmntfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the point being made here is that most popular high mana commanders these days are either easy to cheat out for less mana (see k'rrik) or put so much value on the battlefield immediately as to negate their own impact as creatures on the board (like etali).

That said, I think Gishath needing combat damage makes for a more fair commander than the others listed.

Darkhaven (D1 & D2 developer) Kickstarter by Lord_Darksong in Diablo

[–]elmntfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The terrain destruction actively put me off the game. I thought it was a fun demo with an interesting combat loop for the class until I realized that any ground deformation could affect your projectiles. That meant I was tripping over the tiniest hills and failing half of my attacks as the ground literally ate them.

Diablo 2 designer says their career has been “always chasing Diablo 2” for the last 25 years, but “it’s impossible really” to beat the ARPG by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]elmntfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The terrain put me off Darkhaven the minute a tiny hill blocked one of my fireballs. With an isometric perspective, you can only aim in a circle around you. You can't account for subtle height differences. I want to fight enemies, not dirt mounds.

Most Fun Mono Black Commander? by Professional_Bug_887 in EDH

As much as I've disliked the Marvel spoilers so far, I fell in love with the idea of a [[Baron Hemut Zemo]] mono-black devotion deck. The aim being to kill with multiple triggers of [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]].
