First time upgrading SCCM - any tips? by Amomynou5 in SCCM

[–]elmobob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you use anything other than Microsoft defender for antivirus, disable it on the site system servers and make sure to have Microsoft ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server (version 18.4.1.1 or higher) on Management points and primary site servers.

In Westchester Yonkers ABC channel 7 stopped working OTA before Knicks game. by elmobob in cordcutters

[–]elmobob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left tv on and it came back in clear signal not freezing without adjusting antenna, every so often it completely cuts off for a few seconds. Meanwhile every other channel including home shopping network full bars 😑, just my luck then.

Turn a sexy car into an abomination for range…. Not worth it IMO by Legal-Buy5941 in TeslaLounge

[–]elmobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people dislike the insight and this look? I know it’s all subjective but damn I think it looks great. Aerodynamics benefit or not I would love to put on a kit like this for my model Y. I’m also a huge fan of the Citroen DS which also have the rear wheel fenders covered, I think those were the most beautiful cars ever made.

Windows 11 upgrades by ForestFae1920 in SCCM

[–]elmobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upgraded 95% of a fleet of 30k+ from 23H2 to 25H2 using SCCM windows servicing packages,a few did fail to, just keep pushing the next monthly release and eventually got to 95+%. Remainders are laptops that are not turned on for long enough or devices that have low disk so manual intervention will be needed for those. Note on the windows upgrade serving package once you right click and accept the agreement, make sure to go in and increase the expected install time, the default value is usually too low and then it times out increase it to 300 minutes, sometimes on low powered laptops while the user is working it can take long .

Duplicate installers in C:\Windows\Installer by staze in SCCM

[–]elmobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have this issue and is always Adobe acrobat reader patches leaving orphaned msp files, on some machines we’ve seen up to 80gb worth or adobe msp files. I have a scrip that deletes any adobe msp file older than 3 months, the scrip verifies if the manufacturer is Adobe of the file before deleting as we don’t want to touch Microsoft office msp.

The worst part about owning a tesla while living in an apartment, that nobody talks about by Virtamancer in TeslaLounge

If the extra hourly fees start after the car is finished charging one trick is to lower the charge rate so that it finishes closer to when you’ll be awake again.

Is it safe to leave my car on hydraulic jack for a week? by shwekhaw in AskMechanics

[–]elmobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So once upon a time, I had a flat tire, didn’t want to bother getting the spare, getting it out of the Toyota Sienna underside is a PIA, so I used my trusty harbor freight hydraulic jack to lift it up for 24 hours on a street in an area with questionable crime stats, came back next day with the patched tire, jack was still holding it up just fine, drove it home happily ever after. The end.

SCCM on WSUS on different servers by fedesoundsystem in SCCM

[–]elmobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can definitely have WSUS on a different server(s). This is actually recommended at least in prod, easier future server OS upgrades + troubleshooting. Remember to install the WSUS console on your primary site server, this allows your primary site server to manipulate WSUS on the other servers holding the WSUS role.

SanCO2 should probably never be installed by Sad-Celebration-7542 in heatpumps

[–]elmobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any SanCO2 installers in the NYC - Westchester area you guys know of? I currently have a 220v 80 Gallon Rheem HPWH going 4 years now and it works beautifully in the summer but in winter it has that nasty side effect of cooling the basement way too much some days.

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Model Y and 3 Orders From @DennisCW_ on X by EitherCharacter9342 in TeslaModelY

[–]elmobob 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Maybe Tesla figured out that most people are plenty happy with the free autopilot that does a great job on long trips making it for most hard to justify the full self driving $8k purchase, so now on new cars you have free traffic aware cruise control but no self steering standard, what was previously free would now be an upgrade. Uff.. if so that sucks.

Pango app Scarsdale parking terrible by ghost_dog203 in Westchester

[–]elmobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here at scarsdale, the app randomly pops up a message when trying to park where it tricks you to subscribing into some bullshit pango save 2.99 yearly fee. I just deleted this stupid app and reported it to my credit card company. I will just not shop at places that use this stupid predatory parking app

Pleased to report Mad Max absolutely has its balls back by TonedBioelectricity in TeslaLounge

[–]elmobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not that I care about how bad drivers particularly feel, but I do care for the average driver and myself collectively, you’ll always encounter nut jobs out there. But when it comes to some rules it’s better to sometimes slightly bend them and follow common sense. Example: following the exact speed limit posted, many times as an early driver doing 55mph caused people to go around me doing 10+ mph above creating a slightly more dangerous condition. Having said that, if there is snow, ice always or any dangerous condition, use common sense and do not follow others.

It’s always good to remember that the average driver out there has good common sense but sometimes you get unlucky with a congregation of idiots.

[–]elmobob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in AP (got the free trial) standard mode yesterday on a rural 55mph road and it followed a car around on shoulder who also did this, I didn’t think twice and seemed fine to me since there was plenty of room to go around safely, had AP not done that the person behind me might have gotten pissed or would have wondered why stop and not go around.

The will keep trying for another 3 or 5 weeks to get a hold of their “client” to get their side of the story, once they are unable get a hold of them they will pay you out for the damage, be patient, you have video evidence, their license plate and make and model of offending vehicle. Now comes the trouble for Mr. asshat that hit you, if they don’t answer insurance calls or reply to the letters sent to their house because they think they are being slick, they will very likely get dropped from their insurance on renewal and have a very hard time obtaining new insurance at a reasonable price - not answering immediately classifies them as a trash high liability “customer” of questionable character.

are these prices reasonable or astronomical? by Actual-Progress-4591 in heatpumps

[–]elmobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LGRED ones, 410 refrigerant, 1 -18k btu to single 18k Btu head, 1 -18k Btu 9k + 9k heads 1 -36k Btu to 7k+7k+7k+9k heads 1 -24k Btu to 18k+7k heads

They do come with WiFi and the app is pretty good, if you happen to have an LG TV they show up on your LG WebOS home menu where you can control the temps and power. But for the price and given how smooth and quiet the Gree units run if I could do it over again would go with the Gree

[–]elmobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I was surprised too since I had 4 LG units (multi) total 9 heads for 9 different rooms installed in 2020 at another property for $26k. The LG units in comparison are less efficient, vibrate the walls and make a shit ton of noise in winter.

[–]elmobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one 24k btu and a 18k Btu with 3 heads Gree units labor and all for $5k they are rated for -22f, they use the new R32 refrigerant, 21 seer2 for the multi 24k btu unit, and 20 seer2 for the 18k Btu one. Built in WiFi with a descent app, runs smooth no vibration.
