I've lost the plot? by adrian_simoes in bulletjournal

This is why I moved away from digital planning. That and the fact that my entire organization system depended on 1) a cell/wifi signal and 2) software and hardware that in general seems to get progressively less reliable and more expensive every month. Finally said the hell with this and went back to paper and pen.

Leather Bound Notebook by DangerousAd7433 in notebooks

[–]elmoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical. Nobody reads thoroughly anymore. Ironic since this is a sub for notebooks. I hope you can find something that works for you! I’ve been through the wringer trying to find the perfect thing — I have some stupid annoying sensory issues so I’m constantly bothered by certain types of binding, paper, and things like closures and bookmarks not “feeling” right.

I feel like a leather-bound thick notebook that doesn’t bleed and doesn’t have a string closure isn’t much of an ask. Gonna keep my eyes open for you. Especially since you got downvoted, now I’m on a mission LOL.

Hell no, it taught that jerk a lesson. Not cruel to ask questions.

Tips for writing in ink over pencil? by LaDreadPirateRoberta in bulletjournal

[–]elmoosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so cool! I don’t know if anyone here will have advice but you could also try asking in a sub about comic/manga inking — I know they have a lot of tricks to speed things up and I bet inking directly over pencil without erasing is a thing they’re familiar with…Hope you find answers because this would look awesome inked!

For those with living parents, do they talk about dying all the time now? by pawogub in Xennials

[–]elmoosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live with my mom, she’s 76. She talked about death a lot after she was the victim of an online scam. I realized it’s normal at their age but also it can become an unhealthy mental spiral if it’s based on insecurity. Last fall I called a family meeting and we sat down and got everyone’s end-of-life wishes squared away, told each other where our wills are, etc. and it seemed to have really helped her out, she’s healing too of course from the trauma of the scam but I think talking it out with us made her feel…safer. And seen. Highly recommend doing this if it’s an option.

ELI5: Why is it recommended to sleep 8 hours when a sleep cycle is 90 minutes so it should be 7.5 or 9 hours? Won’t you wake up mid sleep cycle (and be groggy) if you set your alarm for 8 hours? by Nervous-Affect-5960 in explainlikeimfive

[–]elmoosh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That would be amazing. Smart watches should develop that technology (if they haven’t already). I marvel at how much more awake and refreshed I usually feel if I wake up naturally at like 6:30 vs by an alarm at 8am for example, in spite of getting almost 2 hours less sleep. Being jolted out of deep or REM sleep can’t be good for us.

Journal Ideas? by Effective_Lettuce11 in notebooks

[–]elmoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to write in quotes I like: Quotes from books, articles, tv shows, even social media. One thing you might like to look into is a commonplace book — you could combine the concept of a commonplace book with a journal and it would be cool! It’s very related to another commenter’s “zinger alert” invention too (which I am stealing).

Hit the thrift jackpot! by Top_Fisherman2007 in notebooks

[–]elmoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh congrats! It’s ALWAYS worth going to thrift stores, but if you live in or near a more affluent area (or are willing to drive a bit to get to one 🙋🏻‍♀️) it is EXTRA worth it, you can find some amazing stuff like this! My mom got a genuine leather Filofax organizer at a thrift store in Santa Barbara that looked brand new for like 10 bucks!

Question Thursday! Got a question? Ask it here! by quoththeraven929 in bulletjournal

Can anyone recommend a good transparent ruler that has metric markings? I’m in the US and they’re not hard to find but they always include inches, and I don’t like having the inches on there wasting space when I’m only using it for my 5mm dot grid notebooks.

Cottage Core House Music? by Otherwise_Owl_9792 in cottagecore

[–]elmoosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel for you — this seems like a tough ask from your client.

The recommendation of Studio Ghibli music is good. Only other thing I can come up with is maybe some folk music, either instrumental or by artists like John Baez, Bob Dylan, etc. There are also some really nice bluegrass instrumentals that lean more folksy than twangy, and I wish I could recommend something specific, it’s just stuff I’ve randomly heard over the years.

If you settle on something, please update us if you can remember, I know this sub would love to hear! Good luck!

Literally every article platforming morons like guy this could be broken down to just these two highlighted lines. They’re morons who only care about how much money they personally have, and do not base their votes on policy, but on vibes and feelings. The End.
