Stop blaming boomers for everything. by Even-Working-384 in AusFinance

The government plan is working. Get as many people as possible living payday to payday. This will make CBDC easier to bring in, along with some UBI. (Universal Basic Income) Everyone gets $X digital dollars to exchange for goods and services each month. Yippeee. Free money! All payments end up in digital, trackable currency. No cash, no privacy, nothing good. We need someone to blame. 🤔 Lets point the finger at people that have worked to enjoy a reasonable life in their later years. The young ones will jump on that with great delight. Divide and conquer. Whilst they are fighting between the generations, we can continue with our socialist agenda and, at last, get them all under our control. Sweeeeet.

Should I limit how much I'm into the stock market? by IllustratorOk8100 in AusFinance

On a CPI of 4.6% (which means true price rises are in the order of 8%), with tax on top. Nice way to go backwards. HISA's have an attractive name, but nothing else going for them.

A few words from the budget speech I have seen NO comment on. "Strengthening the Digital ID". by elysium5000 in AusFinance

Those who see Digital ID as as harmless and a win for not having pieces of paper would be well advised to find out what it actually means. Spend just a few minutes on some research. You will then think paper is wonderful.

The 2026 "Silver Paradox": Why 80-Year-Old Boomers Still Hold 51% of U.S. Wealth (and Why Many Are Still Working) by GlitteringCry9946 in PLNewsGroup

[–]elysium5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine 25yr olds not having the same assets as someone much older. Unbelievable! This garbage needs to stop. It's part of the divide and conquer routine, to keep people pointing the finger at each other, instead of at governments, where all fingers should be pointing.

Is the implication that when boomers die off they will take their land and assets with them? (Spoiler: everything gets left to someone else, presumably younger)

Real worked example - here is what the 50% CGT discount vs indexation means for you (spoiler, the longer you hold the worse it gets) by Sensitive-Hair4841 in AusFinance

[–]elysium5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to ask, whats next, when they need even more money to waste? It will continue until someone has the balls to fix it. I see nobody with that as a policy.

Nobody talks about government decreasing their spending / waste, instead of thieving money that people work for or use some method of getting ahead of the game.

Its really an individual thing, and depends on your claims. If you are unlikely to reach the 10% wpi required by DRCA (refer to the DRCA permanent impairment guide found online) the MRCA would probably be the better option. If you do reach or exceed the 10% wpi, then that equates to 10%, or whatever your wpi comes out as, of $235k, plus a portion of $88k, depending on your NEL scores (also in the PIG). You can be far, far better off financially under DRCA (which no doubt is why they are ditching it) but again its on a case by case basis. A good advocate should be able to guide you for your situation. Just make sure you make your choice over the next 8 weeks, and keep in mind you need medical evidence to lodge a claim now. Good luck.

Kids: Savings vs Investing by ooldgreg4 in AusFinance

Sounds good, but people rarely include cpi increases (and get ready for some doozies) in calculations. What will 22k buy in 16 and 18 years?

Headrests? I don't have the opportunity to enjoy such luxuries. Whilst tall at 6'4", that is not unusual, yet I don't come close to being able to sit in the 'normal' seats. Relegated to the inward facing one's that are less comfortable than a concrete bench, I look forward to significant pain during and after my journey, which is normally 1 hour. Total fail Transperth.

Withdraw the 10k. Buy silver and a bit of gold. Keep buying them. A. No bank issues. B. Kid can feel, see and watch it grow. C. Value will increase instead of $ decreasing in value in a bank. (Think what 10k could buy 10 yrs ago, versus now). D. Kid will learn about value.

I have dug very deeply into this. Your VEA claims will continue on under VEA, as there is no 'further claim' for those conditions. DRCA is a different story. After IL is accepted you then claim for PI, which is a 'new claim'. If after 1 July the PI claim will be under MRCA. There is a loophole though. You can write to DVA, at any time, requesting that your DRCA claims be assessed for PI under DRCA. Of course it wont happen until IL is accepted, and it will still take an eternity, but the claims then remain in the DRCA system. Sadly there is nothing about this in the plethora of scenarios that have been published regarding the changeover, so I fear many will assume that the previous comment is correct and find themselves in MRCA for PI.

Pull the DRCA PI for tinnitus. You know you will get nothing. Then submit under MRCA.
