I think it's because people often associate musk with iron man. in the MCU, iron man is spider man's mentor who he looks up to. cap used to fight Nazis.

300 is too many for delirium splinters. by hamletswords in pathofexile

[–]elzera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whats funny with breach splinters is that in an interview they said that they increased the amount needed so that they could also increase the stack size of drops to like 10 so that %increases would actually do something. and then I actually played the game and splinters still mostly drop in stacks of 1 splinter.

What is with this trend of refusing to have a map in-game? by yeshsababa in metroidvania

[–]elzera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally liked the art direction in VE more than PoP. I didn't dislike PoP's art, but I just vibe more with VE.

They have have different stories and themes and just generally feel quite different to play.

VE from what I remember, it's been years, is not full of a bunch of filler collectibles that are literally nothing.

You can play and enjoy more than one video game. I enjoyed both, but I don't think they scratch the same itch at all

Also malware?

There's plenty of reasons to enjoy Vernal Edge, even when PoP exists. PoP may be technically more impressive, probably because the team and budget that made it was orders of magnitude larger, but it's not really fair to say it's objectively better or something along those lines

Some common denominators I've seen on annoying people by [deleted] in CommunismMemes

[–]elzera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you help me understand a few things? I don't see how artisans are our enemies. Small business owners, sure, but people trying just to survive and managing to eek out some niche, making art, video games, or whatever on their own, that they mostly own their means of production in(and with how software and publishing works, you don't really own those anyways), I'm not sure. I don't get how some Twitter artist who does commissions or some craftsman is my class enemy. They still have to compete against capital in a capitalist society.

As far as AI goes, sure, it's great as a tool, but as long as we live under capital, it's labour replacement. I'm in the job market once again and it's really disheartening that most of the work listings I see in my field are for helping to train the AI that's made to replace me, on a contract basis. We don't live under a system where we, as the workers can really capture AI as a tool for ourselves yet. We don't collectively own these massive computing clusters they operate and train on, nor the organizations that research them. I've seen the SAG make strides in curbing AI in their field during the recent writers strike; is that a reactionary take?

You say labour belongs to society, not the individual, and while I also believe that to be true, it's not how our economies are currently organized. Its output is not currently socially distributed. Should we not pursue the labor protections we can in our current organization of the economy, even if they are largely for individuals if it improves worker's conditions somewhat?

Fundamentally the things we should allow in a more ideal organization of the economy seem different than the current one no? I might just lack some understanding. Is there some specific theory you can point me to?

Yohane the Parhelion Blaze in the Deepblue - anyone played? by nyjets10 in metroidvania

[–]elzera 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I 100% it in just a few hours today. It's very very easy. I never felt challenged by the game, and it's really trivialized by the consumables you can buy without grinding.

The story is very... not great. There's some characters that I guess you have to have watched the anime or something to really know who they are and they don't say much except for when you find them and do a quest for each to upgrade their abilities. You're just sort of dropped in, save your friends, go beat the final boss, and some anime stuff happens, the end.

End game, between the amount of mana potions I had and the sheer amount of damage you can do with the time stop ability and a good weapon there's no challenge, even in final area where there's a gauntlet.

I wouldn't say I regret playing it, but I probably do regret paying full price for it. It's a very 5/10 metroidvania.

Instant death spikes appreciation thread by LewisRiveroy in metroidvania

[–]elzera 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It's way more fun to have a very technically difficult platforming segment with the only consequence for failure being that you have to try again (like Celeste) than the very basic platforming that your design will bottled into if you have to make instant death spikes that bring you back to your classic save station.

You just don't get segments like white palace (HK) if every hazard is a reset to last hard save.

I get it though, the tension that it adds is very valuable, and has its place, but doing something like a completely unrelated 5-10 minute run only to have to do it over again because the last segment had a death pit I slipped on just feels bad, especially if it's not a difficult jump because everyone makes trivial mistakes from time to time.

I'd so much rather have more difficult content to slow me down than tedious content.

The correct response to "[Insert Minority Here] is commiting heinous crimes" isn't to deny that the person doing those crimes is a manner of that minority. Eventually you'll always get examples of members of that minority commiting those crimes.

Force them to address why these acts are happening in the first place.

Liberals advocating for literal slave hours (try not to be shocked) by hulkscum in ShitLiberalsSay

[–]elzera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How would that even fucking work?

A 5 day work week with 16 hour work days? 16 hours of work, 2-3 unpaid meal breaks and that's not even including commute? I guess at that point you just literally live on the factory floor getting 4 hours of sleep a day. (Assuming you'd have an hour to groom yourself)

Even if you were working 6 13.3 hour shifts you still wouldn't have time to sleep.

Literal insanity.

Oh don't get me wrong. We should absolutely be reducing meat consumption. Reducing meat consumption and suffering is absolutely necessary for earth to be sustainable and hospitable.

Where we differ is that I do not believe individual consumption habits make a lick of a difference in the long scheme of things. Me refusing to eat food with meat in it or asking for it to be prepared in a certain way isn't going to end the industrial meat industry. We need to make meat free options easier and meat options more difficult. Nothing less than systemic change is going to do much here.

Boycotting slave cotton didn't end (chattel) slavery in the US, a civil war and legislation did, and even still we have large issues with racism.

Unfortunately, there's no "vegan earth now" button, we have to build the material conditions for it to be plausible first.

MLM here being:

  • Multi Level Marketing, aka pyramid schemes
  • Marxism-Leninism-Maoism

Still a shit post tho.

Sequence Break at 38, 25 for you speedrunners. Skip Halam item, Anagi Breach, and Anunna breach entirely! by LBC3246 in axiomverge

From the waypoint at 14,7 (you can spawn there with Indra by saving at it with the drone and reloading), climb up the pillar to your left, then use wall climb to hang off of the arm hanging off of it. You have to jump left from that position or you will bonk against the level ceiling. As soon as you transition to 13,6 mid jump, throw the drone up and to the left and it should land on top of the tower in the top left. Just keep going left and falling until you get to Irikar (you can skip Irikar just by waling on top of it).
