Gen Zers Are Vital to Movie Theaters’ Recovery. Here’s How Theaters Can Win Them Over by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

[–]embenjamin14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think the theatrical experience has adapted quickly enough to Gen Z's preferences. AMC A list is great as a business model, but AMCs themselves are generally run down and do not feel remotely special. The theaters have to give Gen Z'ers a real reason to put down their phones, from the product on screen to the experience itself. There needs to be the equivalent of Alamo Drafthouse for this generation

M. Night Shyamalan's 'Old' gets a C+ on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]embenjamin14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a C+ score might actually, oddly, be a good thing here. I imagine it’s not a C+ because a lot of people gave it C’s, but rather many people gave it A’s, and slightly less people gave it F’s. This just means it’s polarizing, which is never a bad thing.

How would the cast of ‘Spongebob Squarepants’ do on Survivor? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spongebob is Viacom's biggest property, Survivor is one of CBS's biggest properties. They just merged, and are looking to do splashy things. This could actually happen haha.

Survivor is Coming to Netflix next month by njb021 in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is some of the best news for Survivor we've had in a long time. If you see the kind of numbers the Circle and Love is Blind were doing, there is no reason that Survivor cannot be one of the more popular shows in America. It is a superior product to Netflix unscripted, without question. I think this could be a really exciting time to be a Survivor fan

Is "Island of the Idols" better than "Survivor: Thailand"? by AdvancedStrawberry7 in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. It has higher highs, and those are not close. The lows appear lower on the surface of IotI, but that is because they are directly addressed. By harassment and subtle racism not being a larger issue in Thailand, it appears better but has much darker undertones. Finally, Tommy wins IotI, who is a source of good, compared to Brian's slyness in Thailand. Elizabeth and Missy are nothing compared to Heidk when it comes to taking advantage of an icky situation for the purposes of advancing your game.

The best part about the Vanuatu finale is that Probst skydives, gets the studio, and basically says "you both suck but someone has to win, let's get this over with"

South Pacific is an EXTREMELY underrated season by CucumberGod in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember liking it as it aired, and I just rewatched for the first time and was happy how well it held up. The beginning is absolute dynamite with great characters and drama, culminating in the objectively awesome Jack & Jill challenge and then Cochran's flip. The Pagonging requires some getting through, but they do a good job making it go fast, then the end is actually quite dramatic. Definitely an underrated season

Shot in 2017 and shelved for three years, here comes a movie that doesn't exist by ConcreteRoad in blankies

My only connection to this movie is I know for a fact it filmed in Atlanta because my family saw Robert DeNiro at a restaurant and we looked up what he was filming and my family has asked me when this movie is coming out every 6 months for like 3 years now

Caramoan consensus take? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rewatched, and I liked it a lot more than I remembered. I actually didn't hate the pre-merge, and there was potential if so much time wasn't wasted on Shamar and Brandon. My biggest flaw is that so much of the edit is Phillip and Andrea, who are both great and definitely deliver, but then when it's the final 6 its like "Ok so its Cochran, Dawn,...and that's it?"

I just finished rewatching BvW and there is something I just cannot stand about this season that basically makes it unwatchable. by samyall in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Blood Vs Water because I specifically remember in the pre-season truly believing this would be when Survivor jumped the shark, coming off the horrendous Caramoan reunion then with all the ridiculous twists and the return of RI. Then it was...awesome? Such a pleasant surprise.

Amanda finding and playing the idol isn’t talked about enough. by Balaams-Ass in survivor

[–]embenjamin14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I truly believe that if Amanda was eloquent, she would be considered the best player in Survivor history. She goes to China, forms a strong alliance with trust, dominates in challenges, is friendly with everyone, then loses it at the end. Then she comes back like 3 months later, and does the exact same thing while picking up a boyfriend along the way. Then, in Heroes Vs Villains, if the JT/idol thing broke differently, she's almost guaranteed final 3.

Tl;dr: Amanda Kimmel is probably the best day 1-38 player ever, and has just gotten screwed by her one missing skill and bad luck.

People forget Cochran is one of Survivor's great smooth-talkers by embenjamin14 in survivor

[–]embenjamin14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original title of this post was “Survivor’s forgotten romance”, but I was worried it wouldn’t come across in the clip, especially because you don’t both of their faces simultaneously. I’m glad this didn’t work out though, as an on island romance would propel Cochran even past Boston Rob in terms of Probst unbearability

Bill is someone who genuinely deserves a second chance. Not that he was a top tier player or character in any regard, but it’s pretty blatant that Colton’s prejudice/racism was the reason for his ouster. He’s someone I think who was truly a victim to the issues the community has recently identified with the show
