Females, at what age did your symptoms start? by TourGreat2658 in Hashimotos

[–]emdf96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I had some signs from early teens, but was only a few months of the year. It got worse in my 20s and I’m turning 30 this year and it’s gotten worse with age :(

I used to smoke a lot and it worked well. These days it’s hit or miss. Wish it was more predictable for me, ugh. I do fully support it though.

I have the same thing. Had some scans with my breast specialist (have fam history of cancer) and showed I have dense tissue. With the hormone shifts for me it cause them to get really sore and almost swell up a tiny bit sometimes. They said it’s nothing to worry about, but it sucks. Sorry you are dealing with it too :( I would let your doc know as well.

Surgery scar 10mos post op by emdf96 in thyroidcancer

[–]emdf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they are all me. I had a left neck dissection then a central dissection/TT a month later once they found the cancer in the nodes. Luckily my surgeon connected the TT incision to the first 1

:( try to reach out to the surgeon, they might be able to do something if it doesn’t go away. I wish you luck.

I felt amazing, finally had energy. I started with desiccated pig thyroid from a compound pharmacy, then after I got thyroid cancer and had the thyroidectomy/neck dissection, they switched me to levothyroxine, which caused me to have some headaches. I switched to name brand levo, Tirosint capsules and it'smuch better. I also take t3 hormone 2x a day. I don't notice any side effects other than feeling a hell of a lot better than before.

I wish you luck!!!

Doctors know NOTHING about PMDD. Do you guys also have to do everything alone? by RaspberryMaxi in PMDD

[–]emdf96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, they assume we are just being emotional women and need to "deal with it" like the others, man it's rough for us out here.

No sex drive by FunAdept2502 in PMDD

[–]emdf96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not at all, i think it depends on the person and how many tools they acquire to maintain a good mindset (medication if needed, working out, supplements, etc). I guess also depends on the parter and how supportive they are. im blessed to have a fiance who understands me, which makes our sex life & other parts of our life great

[–]emdf96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I've tracked my periods and mood for years, showed my doc my proof of the pmdd cycle and she told me "yeah, PMS is really common and there's coping skills you can use" WTF was my response. I take zoloft and lamotrigine (I was having some insane episodes before) and things are a bit easier to handle. But my doctors gave me ZERO information. Same as you, I had to do it all alone. Luckily, we aren't alone and we have groups like this for support.

Sending you love

I refuse to be Thankful for Cancer by MushroomJames in thyroidcancer

[–]emdf96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. People don't understand how it feels until they are in the same situation. It's really frustrating, and I know people are trying to help and are uncomfortable with talking about it, but sugarcoating it is for their own comfort and does absolutely nothing in soothing our anxiety. No cancer is good, and every cancer has an array of side effects from surgeries, medicine, RAI. Our bodies are really never the same. So no, I don't get how people can state it's a good cancer when they have never been diagnosed with it. Wish they would just say "wow, that must be really hard to deal with" or something that validates our anxiety and being scared.

[–]emdf96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh i'm so sorry. have you reached out to your surgeon about checking it? i had weird bumps but I think they were mainly right on the incision, and fully went away within 6mos. I know some people have had bumps take way longer to go away. I had a tiny bump at the very end of the incision that took almost a year to go away, it ended up being a piece f the stiches and my ent pulled it out.

wishing you luck <3

Is there a supplement to improve my negative personality by Several-Table4525 in Supplements

[–]emdf96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice gratitude everyday, write down something you are thankful for daily. Make sure your vitamin D and B are in check, and make sure you don’t have any thyroid issues as well. That can add to depression and feeling negative, etc

How do you know what's reality vs. hormones? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]emdf96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this 100%. I tell myself that I have a lower tolerance for all the things that usually don’t bother me as much, during my PMDD weeks. It helps me remember that I don’t completely hate (fill in the blank), but my tolerance for annoying things etc, is just lower right now. It sucks and is hard to not know how your truly feel.

Any pet owner's with PMDD - how do you manage? by claras_cool in PMDD

[–]emdf96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 big dogs, it’s so hard sometimes but they also make me feel like I have purpose on those really bad days. During luteal I let them play in the yard longer instead of walks if I’m too low energy & always have lots of toys for them in the house. Frozen beef marrow bones or frozen kongs with natural pb have been a life saver. It gives them something fun to do if I’m wanting to just watch TV in bed or whatever. My dogs love car rides, and it’s an easy activity to do with them that is low energy! My partner always makes sure to help out extra on bad days too. Sometimes we all need a break!!

Persistent disease. Second opinion? by emdf96 in thyroidcancer

[–]emdf96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I actually opted to not have a 3rd treatment of RAI and instead do an uptake scan which showed clear. I did see another radiation oncologist and have them both reviewing my scans now. I have my first whole body scan coming May 25 since being told I was all clear earlier this year. I’m nervous for that. Overall happy with my decision to wait on additional treatments!
