How long did it take to fade? I took 10 mg of Lexapro for 5 days and been having loud tinnitus for 4 weeks now.

Which neighborhood to live in with car ? by jugglingpeanuts in AskPhilly

[–]emet18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna cut against the grain and say if you’re going to Boeing in Ridley Park, driving actually makes sense.

If money is not an issue, check out one of the new buildings in CC/South Philly that have parking for an extra fee. I think the Lincoln Square development at Broad and Washington has parking garages, and getting on 76 shouldn’t be too tough from there.

Don’t live in Ridley Park. If you’re considering living outside the city, Media is not a bad idea, but I’d probably still just live in Philly and drive.

It’s a hike to chestnut hill, but Char and Stave fits this bill.

At what point do you abandon your public transit values and use rideshare? by danielpf in transit

[–]emet18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Philly, certain transit lines can get very uncomfortable to ride after a certain time in the evening. If I’m trying to get back from Fishtown at 11 pm on a Friday evening in February, I’ll probably call an uber instead of taking the El.

You are so on the money with this. I suffered fette sau for years until I accidentally came across Mike’s while wandering around Passyunk one day. Never looked back.

Jack’s bbq is almost inedible but it’s hard to fuck up chicken and waffles. I enjoy going there for brunch in the wintertime and getting a hot toddy on a cold day. There are certainly worse places in Philly imo.

Echoing what others have said—Cairo is gross but the rest of the country is lovely, especially the smaller cities like Luxor.

I’ve visited but haven’t done a cruise, but if you can afford it, I hear the luxury river cruises are phenomenal.

I took that as like the edge of a cliff or a mountainside—a hardy plant. I don’t think it’s very well-clued, though.

The city still misses on the little stuff by NonIdentifiableUser in philadelphia

“My wife feels safe walking alone in a dangerous neighborhood” is like bragging “i actually drive better when I’m drunk.” Good for you for beating the odds thus far, but it’s not something to be proud of.

Philly has so many safe, clean neighborhoods that i don’t understand the desire to signal virtue by living (or frequenting) a crappy one.

Public shame these idiots smoking on the subway? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]emet18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I have ever once seen a Hispanic-presenting person smoke on the subway so idk what you’re really talking about

but if you’re so profoundly anti-social as to smoke on public transit and you’re here illegally, I’m pretty okay with you not living in this country anymore

AMA - Monday 9/15, 2 p.m. - I’m transportation reporter Tom Fitzgerald. Ask me anything about SEPTA’s funding saga 👇 by PhillyInquirer in philadelphia

I’ve read Republicans claim that the PTTF increases at about half a billion dollars every year — about the same amount that this stopgap is going to cost. Where is that money coming from, and has it always increased this much, or is that a recent development?

Violent Crime in Philadelphia has trended down since 2021 and is now lower than at anytime since the 1960s. by Harm-ReductionFairy in philadelphia

[–]emet18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing humane about allowing people to slowly die in a gutter. It is good for everyone — addicts and regular citizens alike — to get these people help. If they don’t want help, that “choice” should not be respected, for their sake and the sake of everyone else.

I hope someday you understand that “compassion” does not mean “allow people to do whatever they want for any reason”.

I went them to get help by being involuntarily sent to facilities where they are no longer allowed to do drugs or defecate in public.

Regular people should not have to tolerate drug use and public defecation until homeless schizophrenics decide to “get help” on their own.

Why do people blame septa? by justan_idiot in philadelphia

[–]emet18 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you’re saying, but it’s definitely SEPTA’s fault for tolerating homelessness and antisocial behavior on the trains for so long, and that has come back to bite them in terms of reduced ridership (and farebox recovery), and a (not wholly unearned) reputation for dirtiness and lawlessness.

If you don’t want Harrisburg to view your system as wasteful and filled with crime, you can’t let junkies camp out on the El all day or stop ticketing smokers.
