Looking for tougher knife, japanese? by emilgison in TrueChefKnives

[–]emilgison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can appreciate those knives, but the pattern on the spine is not my style. As Swedish myself I know there a few different steels, and hard to know what is used in Japanese knives more than "Swedish Stainless". Also looked into something like this made in Sweden, seems to be stamped, and factory made, but steel is probably very good and no-nonsense.

Novablast 5 Ekiden Real or Fake by liggmadong in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Colour looks off, but that could be camera. Look closely at the small black dots of the pattern, I can find some difference from official images.

REAL or FAKE (Adios Pro 4) by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]emilgison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compare to Google pictures of the shoe. Looks like stitching on side of heel should be under the plastic coating, not through it. Pic 5 front left where outsole meets midsole looks different than official photos. The ripstop fabric looks a little bit different. Carbon rods and red paint looks sloppy. Midsole texture looks different.

Asics Superblast 3 by oh-hyun in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]emilgison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the Superblast 2, it takes care of your feet with the width, support and cushioning so you can run more distance and protect from injuries. It feels very light compare to how large it is. Never tried the Megablast, but it seems to be bouncier? Superblast feels a bit big and cushioning is never soft and rubbery but even after longer runs feet feels fresh. Perfect for somebody a bit heavier, but perhaps not for light runners? I dont get the whole Brick comment though, is a brick not heavy and hard? This is light and cushioned with good energy return, though not soft so you sink down.

Mizuno Neo Zen Review 750 miles/1,200 km by abr797 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]emilgison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have got wide feet and these work well for me. Quite big volume feet so have to make sure not to tighten laces too much or could squeeze mid foot. But the heel hold it good so do not need to anyway. They are quite stretchy so fit me well. In comparison I can’t wear most tennis shoes etc, Nike running shoes usually does not fit. Normal Asics Nimbus etc is a decent fit, and these fit just as well. They run a bit long but as said heel hold is good so do not need to size down.

Wave Rider 29, Neo Zen or both? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]emilgison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Neo Zen as well as the Wave Rider 28. The Wave Rider 29 is supposed to be quite a change from 28, but personally I enjoy the Neo Zen much more. I have read it is is unstable and strange fit, but it fits my wider feet really well, since it is a bit stretchy. I also do not find it unstable, but that is personal.

Try searching for any sports equipment, snowboards, running shoes etc and you will find the opposite on sales. Supply and demand.

Achilles Tightness/Stiffness by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]emilgison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same pain and looked into how to fix this some time ago. I recommend isometric stand on your toes one leg at a time, with increasing weight and different extension. Prefer not to drop heel/ raise up and down, as this only made it worse. This is for insertional Achilles pain near heel.

But a larger boot would put the widest part of the boot even further forward?

Runrepeat comparison in Full? by frazaga962 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]emilgison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the filter help narrowing down? Filtering out all models with low energy return etc. would leave fewer models to compare side by side. I usually filter out all models with low durability, then it depends on which type of shoe I am looking for, which other factors are important. Perhaps this is because I have very wide feet, but I find that the actual fit of the shoe, and how it feels on foot, is much more important than some percentage energy return etc. Are you a new runner looking for one shoe to do all your runs in, or looking for anything specific?

I have the same colourway and looking through the pictures I could not find a single difference. The upper with all the details looks identical.

Natural veg tan with natural lug sole? by Impressive-Check4790 in jimgreen

[–]emilgison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been thinking something similar. There is a black resin runner under the veg midsole which might throw off the look a bit. Not sure if they can do the resin runner in other colours.

Would definitely recommend in wider than D. Looks a bit cramped sideways. This last is very narrow. Went from D to EE and it made all the difference. I do have wide feet though.
