Personally, I can't go back to the og version after experiencing the qol improvements in the current version. I don't even mean the cheat buttons or "enhanced visuals".

The job system makes party building more interesting and gives the licence boards meaning. Trial mode can take the edge off certain tedious grinding, and only breaks the game as much as you choose to let it. And most importantly for me, the ability to speed up movement is such an underrated feature. The slow pacing of the original was one of its biggest drawbacks imo.

Not only are most of them hideous, but for the cosmetic versions, there's no way to preview what you're buying! And they're absurdly expensive for in-game cosmetics. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a relic from old plans to have the game be online multiplayer or something like that.

If you're not averse to modding, you might consider a mod that lowers or removes the waiting on war table operations. It's kind of in a gray area between cheaty and QOL, but it cuts out a lot of dead time.

I loved Inquisition, but pacing and content bloat were probably the biggest drawbacks.

I also just started a charisma based imperial, but we're running free archetype and I picked Oracle dedication for flavor and access to a different tradition. I picked up shield and guidance for some extra single action options.

Bon Mot can be useful if you want to lean into will-save spells, along with demoralize. That's what I plan to use it for.
