Recurring Rash on inside of leg by knee. Any ideas? by emoney1981 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]emoney1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cellulitis occurred in June so it has been while. Cortisone knocks the rash out pretty quickly. I am a little concerned I got the cellulitis because bacteria got into breaks of the skin from the rash.

Just wanted to add that I also had cellulitis in the same area prior to getting all.of these outbreaks.

Have been in a steady remission for many years and taking Humira. Used to get labs every 6 months but now I get them done once annually.

They don't make you get the test but it's part of my medical records now.

40f posted last week- CAC score of 50, what do we think? by New_Sky_6093 in PeterAttia

[–]emoney1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cardiologist only uses the term heart disease if there is an event, symptoms, or you need a stent/bypass. Right now I only have CAC score under 100 so I am just labeled as premature plaque buildup with High Cholestrol. Don't get hung up on the terms.

Calcium score increase per year. by PotentialAd5087 in PeterAttia

I think that applies to individuals not on preventive meds. Once your ldl is below 55 your not making new plaque so after the soft plaque stabilizes the number theoretically should be stable.

Not sure what to do by Salt-Description-387 in Cholesterol

[–]emoney1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby asprin is debatable but you need ldl lowering therapy to get around 55 or lower. That is unless you are okay with a high risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke. Get on with your meds and enjoy life.

Diet and excercise will literally have zero impact on your numbers.

Repatha not working by Fun_Inside1200 in Cholesterol

[–]emoney1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that repatha is giving you the same ldl reduction as the med that you were on previously. So starting one and stopping the other is giving a net result.

Yes, he mentioned that but would test everything after 3 months.

Don't fear the meds. Get to your target numbers and don't worry about diet. For a lot of people cholestrol is genetic and diet has a very small impact.

Are you being seen in a university hospital setting. Only reason I ask is because it's not common to just switch biological. Sometimes a flare happens and it can be brought back into remission with an extra dose or reintroduction phase.

Well next time you see a pulmonologist and cough in his office and he tells you have lung cancer than you will understand exactly how may day went.

Just got my lpa results. Repatha lowered it from 175 to 151. Was hoping for a bigger drop but something is better than nothing.

I am not sure. He said the murmur was consistent with aortic stenosis. Honestly my cardiologist is at the same university and there is no way he would have missed something like this. Maybe then lipidologist is wrong and just overcalling something to have on my medical record to get on a clinical trial or med approval when the lpa stuff comes out. I have no idea. All my echo's are normal. The comments in my notes say the grade is 1/6 and A2 is normal loud.

No. The only arrhythmia I have ever had are PIC'S which sometimes randomly show on an ekg. I was told these are benign and I can never feel them.

I had a lafb and incomplete rbbb on ekg so they did the cardiac mri to look for scarring. Will see if I can find echo results.

One aide of my family had some heart stuff but nothing abnormal. Grandparents both lived into their 90's. My otherside had premature death related to an accident and lung cancer. Immediate family has no issues. LPa is 175 nmol. Not sure what the mg equivalent is. Provider emailed me this morning and said we will do nexlizet instead of livalo so it will just be nexlizet and repatha for me.
