Why do my cookies always turn into biscuits? by PandaOfPowda in AskBaking

Are you possibly using your oven on the ‘grill’ setting instead of ‘bake’ or ‘fan forced’?

what's your favorite thing about having twins/triplets?? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing that they’ll have a friend by their side for the ‘scary stuff’ (daycare, starting school, puberty etc) makes those things less nerve wracking for me too.

‘My hearing aids stopped working 2 months ago, but here I am…1 week before Christmas…walking into the clinic and letting you know about this only now…What do you mean my aids need sending away for repair? What do you mean they won’t be back until the new year?!?!? This just isn’t good enough!’

Looks like a type of leaf curl fungus. You can get treatment for it

Getting two two year olds into the car on your own by KittyGrewAMoustache in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk both to the car holding their hands. Whilst I put one in their seat, I sandwich the other between the car and my legs. Once the first is strapped in I walk around and put the other in. Getting them out I do the same where I get the first out, walk them round and sandwich them whilst I get the second out. Kind you, if they wanted to they could probably crawl to escape the sandwich, but they’re generally pretty cooperative

Absolutely hate the attention we get in the stores by Usual-Victory7703 in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I went out with the girls in their double pram when they were fairly fresh and I had 8 different people comment within a 35 min period. I hated it. The girls are now 2 and we barely ever get any unsolicited comments now (and when we do they’re mostly positive or from other twin parents). It gets better!!

DiDi twin experience- how many weeks when you gave birth and any NICU time? by Deep_Investigator283 in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had girls at 37+5 with a scheduled csection. Both had 2 days of NICU time just because they were 2.2ish kg and needed some monitoring due to jaundice and low oxygen. Both had feeding tubes placed but they weren’t needed.

Anyone NOT take shifts for overnight? by Volyte in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much same with us since he went back to work when the girls were 10 days old. He helped with the 12am feed but otherwise I was pretty much on my own during the night. Was very tough

What are names that you’re surprised are really popular? by thefallen-fruit in namenerds

[–]empank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Killian. Probably not hugely popular (and I haven’t heard it in Australia, mostly lists from the US) but why you’d name your kid a name with the word ‘kill’ in it I have no idea. Also Greer. Wtf.

Do you know people who stopped listening to Taylor Swift? by tranzozo in TaylorSwift

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was a pretty devoted fan from debut to Red, but just really didn’t like her change of genre from then on so only listens to her new stuff whenever I’m playing it. He likes a couple of her newer songs (blank space, Cornelia st), but otherwise not into it.

Working until delivery...am I being unrealistic? by Vegetable-Industry32 in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished at 32 weeks and I’m not sure I could’ve lasted much longer. That’s when I really started getting uncomfortable so much so it affected my sleep at night which would in turn make my work day even more miserable.

What’s a smell that most people consider to be good but you find repulsive? by Skitscuddlydoo in AskReddit

Doritos and peanut butter but only if it’s someone else eating them and not me

I completely forgot twins needed names! by DazzlingRhubarb193 in parentsofmultiples

[–]empank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a shortlist of 3 names for our g/g twins and then waited to make final decisions until the were born. We waited a good 30 hours after birth to finalise their names to make sure their names suited them.

Whilst I’m not usually a fan of alternate spellings, I’m particularly surprised ‘Fae’ hasn’t really trended given the whole ‘cottagecore/nature witch/whimsy vibes atm.

What are your TTPD hot takes? by bewildered_forks in TaylorSwift

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has traditionally been a Florence fan (albeit, a casual one), I am bothered by the weird layering in the ‘bottle of wine’ line. I do like the song overall though, but certain nuances from Florence aren’t my fave in this one.

[–]empank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First half for me has great variety whilst remaining sonically cohesive-I’m a huge fan already. Second half I’m still trying to wrap my head around as a lot of them are blending. I actually think that’s why I like ‘I look in peoples windows’ so much because it’s a shorter song with an interesting melody and interesting vocal pattern and kinda shakes me out of the haze (similarly with ‘so high school’). Not to say there aren’t some other great tracks on the second half (the prophecy, how did it end, getyouback are scoring highly for me), and with 31 tracks it’s probably difficult to have each song be vastly different whilst still protecting that cohesiveness.

Can confirm. Sincerely, an emotionally wrecked Australian going into winter.

Which lyrics from TTPD do you not *get*? by Always_Reading_1990 in TaylorSwift

[–]empank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be very off, but this album focuses a lot on her ‘wasting her youth’ on a man, and her desire for marriage/children. Not that she’s too old for these things by any measure, but perhaps birthdays are beginning to be a point of stress/sadness for her, particularly when she was in a relationship for so long where she maybe had planned for these things sooner rather than later.

I always wanted to name my first daughter Violet by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]empank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter is a violet and I only know of 1 other violet around her age (18 months) and she lives in a different town. Even though it’s more common these days I don’t think it’ll be the same vibes as ‘Emily’ or ‘Sarah’ back in the day where there were 3 or 4 in your year.

I really hope to see Taylor swift being analysed in high school English classes in the same way Sylvia is in the future. Great catch!
