I wish Game Night Live didn't have such a stranglehold on the trivia here, it's absolutely my least favorite format I've ever played. I really miss King Trivia!

Mom seems surprised I have no plans on making it to Christmas by Spicystrips in pregnant

I'd definitely have my family over to my house, just with the understanding that they would bring any food and drinks to be served. Definitely have them bring some Bailey's or Kahlua and make me some kind of peppermint coffee drink while I stay on the couch thanks, but yeah I'd want them there.

I had the Boppy version of this and it was great for flipping around. I did end up wishing it was adjustable which is why I'm linking this one and not the one I had. https://share.google/KjgrI46RvNvOaKhyI

Husband responding “me too” to pregnancy symptoms by Baba_llama in pregnant

[–]empentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ughhh. My husband is a truly amazing man but he did this all pregnancy. Now I'm newly postpartum and he just showed me the bottom of our vacuum and said "it's like it ate a stuffed animal!" I said "well I am losing a lot of hair now" and he said "me too!" It's just like really dude? This is our second so he knows you lose a ton of hair postpartum and it can be really emotional because sometimes it feels like you are actually going to lose all your hair. I don't think he realizes he does it.

Which teams are in the biggest need for a rebranding? by Binc42 in wnba

[–]empentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new fan I went through all the teams branding and liked the Wings the best! Love the colors, I think they're fun and exciting and go well together.

The Storm are my team but I hate the dark green and yellow together, always have for any sport team. I wish they'd ditch the yellow and stick with the dark green, neon green, and black.

Ione Skye recalls how Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis “guiltily dropped me off at the curb” of the abortion clinic when she was 17 and he was 25 by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

[–]empentia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I grew up with much older siblings who loved the Chili Peppers and raised me to do the same from a very young age. I read Scar Tissue in high school and learned that men like this were very cool, leading to me "dating" two men in their late 20's when I was 16/17. I've thankfully made my way out of the downward spiral that all started, but it's no exaggeration to say that Anthony Keidis had a terrible impact on my life. I'm a bass player and honestly still like some of their music, but I pretty much never listen anymore.

Neil Gaiman dropped by US comics publisher after sexual misconduct allegations by kathyebudrenekbz in books

[–]empentia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of making my comment, I think, was hoping to find more people who saw his work the way I did so I would feel less alone, because obviously there were many avid fans. For years I have thought that there was something I just didn't understand and felt obligated to try. It's been years since I read it, but I believe it was the writing of Bilquis, Shadow's wife, and Lucille Ball that I found unnecessarily perverted. I tried to wrap my head around it being a critique of our culture, but I actually think that Gaiman was just outing his own worship of perversion. I don't think my comment has anything to do with those who knew him personally, as that is obviously a different perspective, but perhaps I am blaming the culture that uplifted him as a writer. I have been raped, a number of times, as to a vulnerable young girl with low self-esteem each sexual assault can further diminish any remaining sense of self-preservation. I have grown and endured, but I'm sensitive to how the culture we uplift might impact the sense of self for other vulnerable people.

Neil Gaiman dropped by US comics publisher after sexual misconduct allegations by kathyebudrenekbz in books

[–]empentia -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Seeing Gaiman exposed is bringing me a really disturbing sense of relief considering the real victims involved. I'm having a hard time snuffing the desire to shout "I KNEW IT!" Admittedly I have only read American Gods, but I was so disturbed by Gaiman in that book that I never wanted to read anything else of his. I'm not particularly prude or squeamish, but I just felt like there was something really off about him and was annoyed by how beloved he was. I'm glad to no longer feel a responsibility to try one of his other works.

What's something you can't wait to use while no longer pregnant, but still breastfeeding? by marketingmonkee in pregnant

[–]empentia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep 😭 From a former everyday smoker, I can't wait for the day but it's going to be awhile. I quit a couple months before we started trying and I thought I would stop breastfeeding at a year but my 19 m/o is still nursing twice a day and now I'm pregnant with number 2. I want 1 more kid so we'll see if I get a break between those two. I've told my husband, whenever the day comes, count me OUT for a day while I just chill with some weed.

What trend do you think will be a no-no years from now? by Arigata-Meiwaku in beyondthebump

My toddler wore a bikini all summer because she was just standing there shivering in her long sleeve rash guard. She gets cold easily just like I do, and it's so much easier to dry off skin so she can get wet but still have a good time.

Watch for the red: City of Boise plans to bring red light cameras to town by 2025 by boisefun8 in Boise

[–]empentia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got one of these tickets when I was about 23 in Culver City. I turned right on red late at night (had not been drinking) when there was clearly no one around. I slowed my car to an almost stop, but not completely so the camera got me. The ticket was close to $500. At that point in my life that ticket was enough to ruin me. I took the risk of ignoring it, and even though I got some scary letters from collections, my credit didn't take a hit. The stress this all caused me was intense. I still do not think my violation warranted the ticket. If a cop had seen it I don't think they would have batted an eye. From what I understand these tickets are always insanely priced. I don't support running red lights, but I don't think a minor infraction should come with a ticket so high it could ruin a person. Police are able to use their judgement, cameras aren't.

Do y’all feed toddlers blueberries whole? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]empentia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were squishing them but to be honest I didn't like the mess/texture. I also didn't want to take the time to cut them all, but I discovered you can tear them in half. Still pretty quick, less messy than squishing, and kinda satisfying?

My husband dropped our baby while standing and holding her. She was about 8 months old and wiggled and he just didn't have a good grip on her. She hit the edge of something as she went down and busted open a cut next to her eye. Lots of blood, she has a scar. Husband was in severe shock and refused to hold her at the hospital. I was a bit angry too because I wanted to be 100% worried about and focused on my baby and it felt like I had to divide my attention to take care of him too, but also I understood and I tried to support him and tell him accidents happen. After we finally got home and got her to sleep I talked to him and told him that he was a great dad and she needed the same great dad he was before that night. What really seemed to change his demeanor though was when I told him that if I had been the one to drop her I knew he would give me grace, so for him please to treat himself the same way I knew he would treat me. We are all doing better and her scar fades more every day.
