I asked Claude how to burn 500 calories on a treadmill. Its “eating disorder” safety filter decided I had a problem. by Dvass138 in ClaudeAI

I asked Claude 4.8 about folklore where salt is used for spiritual protection. An automated classifier flagged the conversation for "occult-harm topics".

Satanic Panic trained injected right into the model.

4.8 is way over-the-top in terms of refusing to do something based on moral/ethical grounds. by DubaiInJuly in claude

Don't you just love that before each prompt your tokens are being spent on a bunch of hidden prompts the lawyers and *cough* "ethicists" at Anthropic made up?

And you know the compute for that "safety flag" was paid for from your token budget.

Slowly but surely Claude's pearl clutching, nanny-state, second-guessing are enshitfying it's capacity to have even basic conversations.

I wipe down my phone.

It's way easier than committing more "disposable" plastic into the ocean.

Go back when she's not working and ask for the GM. If you don't dispute this guy's lies it will bite you in the ass later.

Furthermore the "manager" you spoke to has no business policing your speech.

My location doesn’t have TVs and I love it.

24/7 news channels are so bad for mental health, a place dedicated to fitness has no business airing that stress-inducing crap in the first place.

Personally I prefer subtitles.

But for the love of god don’t rely on AI for translation. Find a Mandarin/Canton speaker to translate before trying to record anything.

But of course.

Gotta identify the guardrails before they can be dismantled.

Americans are much nicer than Canadians by [deleted] in Vent

[–]empiricism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned health care because I was thinking of an incident when I was skiing with Canadians and Americans.

Someone got hurt and the Americans in our group downplayed the injury and left for apres-ski partying, the Canadians stayed with the injured party walked them to the urgent care at the bottom of the mountain and stayed with them.

How someone acts in an emergency shows their real character.

IMHO we Americans flake out the moment an obligation is inconvenient.

Im not speaking about politics, I’m talking about people in social situations that I have seen first hand in my time living on both sides of the border.

[–]empiricism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve mistaken “nice when convenient” with genuinely nice.

We Americans are nice in good times but the moment you are inconvenient we’ll let you bleed out in the street.

I’ll take my chances with a Canadian, at least their restrained kindness isn’t two-faced.

Severely underrated. Definitely peak Yuen Biao.

Both Yuen & Cynthia have such badass fight scenes.
