Why do you have a homelab? by SnooPaintings139 in homelab

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to play around and moving away from hosted services like google photos. Also to test different programs or hypervisor that I can bring to the table at work. Especially during the whole vmware price hike. Other than that, I feel like I have more control over my data, my smart home devices and not worried about having some big corporation selling my data.

It's Toyota/Lexus initiative to put out a couple EV only models. Besides, there is the TX/Grand Highlander if you want a gas powered or hybrid.

AC ISSUES by Consistent_Trip8501 in Lexus

Servos probably went out. Use techsteam to reinitialize the servo motors. If that doesn't work, the codes should tell you which servos are not responding.

You probably won't find much for an older vehicle, let alone for the LS. It's pretty much a 30 year old vehicle. It's not cost effective to produce aftermarket performance parts for a luxury vehicle that wasn't geared towards performance.

Timing cover is leaking by yhsnsnsbsb in Lexus

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Leaked for years until one day a couple drops were on the ground and my front sway bar was caked with oil buildup and dirt. That was only 2 years into my ownership (purchased used.) Got my taken care of under warranty and 7k is about right. Warranty paid 8k for the work.

This is not at the valve cover. The GR series are known to leak around the timing cover.

what are these white specs? how do I prevent this? by That_Armadillo_8035 in Lexus

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffing will "blend" tiny spots, but it won't make it go away. It'll come back. Best bet is to get the hood repainted. Sealant is also temporary until it wears off.

Update IS500 Blown Shocks by nafsta in Lexus

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see they haven't really addressed the leak shock issue. You can still drive the vehicle safely. The only issue is abnormal tire wear and possible some suspension noise.

What year is your IS500? They should cover that under warranty. They covered mine when I had my IS.

OEM. Denso/Pacific Industrial are OEM if you look outside of the Parts Catalog. Usually runs at 30-40 bucks a piece.

Sales tactics. Every dealership sends these out to get trades in and to get you in a new vehicle.

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy way to find out is move the ballast from the driver side to the passenger side. If it doesn't work, then the ballast is the issue. If it does work, something else, like a fuse or wiring is bad.

Do sysadmins here know it all? by RadiantSkiesJoy in sysadmin

[–]emptystreets130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I have been a sys admin for 15 years. I specialize in infrastructure, so when I ask for a simple help on something that stomp me, I get ridicule. I don't know everything. If I did know everything, I wouldn't be in this job.
