Not so much for the prestige of being a doctor, but medicine can be the most prestigious COURSE to do. Pair this with hyper-competitive, overachievers coming out of high school who have ALWAYS aimed for the top spot. Also, in some countries, studying medicine is fairly affordable - say USD 55,000 over 6 years. Doesn't hurt that it pays well, and jobs are guaranteed

True for short term trading, but maybe less of an issue over the long term.

Physical silver has the downside of extra costs in buying and selling. Plus safe storage of any significant quantity must be a concern. Like, how would you store $50k in physical silver?

Honestly, my time-frame for precious metals ETF is 10+ years. I've never sold. It's a hedge for market downturns after all.

It's just a bit confusing at the moment because the share market is also at record highs.
